Or, the way things worked before we invented God.

The hilarious fourth smash hit stand up show from Ricky Gervais, following his complete sellout tour - filmed live at London's Hammersmith HMV Apollo.

Never afraid to challenge comedy boundaries, Ricky is renowned for his acerbic observational humour and cutting delivery. Set on a stage designed to look like Frankenstein's castle laboratory, this show brings together thought-provoking rants and tongue-in-cheek political incorrectness about subjects as diverse as religion, racism and obesity.

"Ricky Gervais is the height of modern entertainment." John Cleese

"Ricky Gervais absolutely kills me every time I see him." Jerry Seinfeld

"One of the funniest comedians I've ever seen." Chris Rock

"A total original...some kind of genius in human observation" Billy Connolly

"Tasteless and unfunny" The Daily Mail

 It's hard

No one should really care what I think, but here it is anyway.

It's hard for me to write this as a massive Gervais fan, but Science is rubbish.

It's not that it's too far, or too offensive it's the manner in which he creates an ill atmosphere that feels like actual hatred and contempt with a world we all live in, to which he's superior.

I think he was teetering on the edge of his arse but now it seems he's fallen right in.

The Ken Dodd story, the part of the set in which he jokes about a mental lady, made me a bit sick, not because of the imagery but because of the pure infantile idea behind it and the fact there was no irony to it, it was just a rant about a poor "fat mental lady" that we should all rejoice in laughing at.

Then he starts treading over pod cast material reciting lines spoken by Karl Pilkington, with no ode to.

Animals, Politics, Fame... I hope the ride doesn't end there. If he can buy and burn every copy of Science and start again, he might be all right.

Sorry Ricky.

Poor - Very Lazy from Gervais

I was very disappointed with the latest offering from Ricky Gervais. I'm a big fan of his work but his self importance is becoming too much to stomach. After a couple of average Hollywood movies he seems to think it is sufficient to simply deign us with his presence on stage and regale us with some ill prepared stories about his fabulous life. There does not seem to have been any preparation or thought gone into this show and his self righteousness and wikipedia "intelligence" are quite frankly embarrassing.

1 hour of Ricky venting his oppinions, more like a lecture!

I love the office and extras, and althugh there were some funny bits in this dvd, i just got bored of the same old Ricky going on and on about his point of view on certain subjects (which is fair enough if it's funny!!) unfortunately most of the time they were just digs at fat people and god... Whew steady there Ricky, no comedians ever touched fat people and god before - NOT
at one point it seemed to remind me of old Jim Davidson type 'hate rant's.

come on Ricky, just tell funny storys, your more funny whern you don't try!

I've been a big Ricky Gervais fan since The Office, Extras etc. Saw the guy live in Blackpool and have all his other dvds. This one is such a disappointment though. Apart from a few funny gags (at the often repeated expense of god and fatties) this is downright poor. Also his trademark "close to the edge" humour for once really didn't cut it at all. The gag about a Dad getting off on his young daughters abuse experience in a park was, well, make your own mind up. Also when he refers to his live audienec as "scum" ....you really do get the impression that he means it!!!! This dvd is Gervais at his very worst, a waste of money. AVOID

The Science of Ricky Gervais is the perfect comedy formula

Saw this show last night at Wembley Arena. I loved every second of it. It was funny, witty, raw and was just such a treat. For a man who could probably sit on his backside for the rest of his life, he does rub it in to the less better off but still creates such a great show. Starting off with an OTT presentation and going with stories about Noah and the Ark, Ken Dodd and even Karl Pilkington. Science is definately one of the best shows I have ever seen and probably the best stand-up Ricky Gervais has ever performed!!!!

Treat yourself to britains funniest comedian.
