Amazing movie, and it was a huge surprise when I realized that that movie was used in Parts of Pink Floyd's The Wall movie
Best film ever. Saw it when it first came out ,been watching on & off ever since. Cant wait to see it REMASTERED. (Does this make me an anorak?).
When this raid took place. It was a pure gamble on a method and weapon that had never been tried before in action. yet 133 brave men picked the challenge and carried it through. The film does thes men justice in their efforts to raise moral in England and to demonstrate to Hitler and his cronies that the tide was turning and his days were on countdown!! There are some short falls in the details of the film, but it does not detract from demonstating the problems that were encountered by all concerned to get this mission prepared for and actioned. i have enjoyed watching this film repeatedly and still enjoy it tremendously. Simply because I am imagining being there myself. Sad or what......but enjoyable. That said. Todays pilots have tried doing what was done in 1943 by those Lancaster crews, and even with modern computers they admitted to be very hard pushed to obtaining anything near the same level of achievment . That speaks volumes!
