After a bout of illness, Lee Holloway moves back in with her dysfunctional family, ready to start anew. Despite a few strikes against her she applies for a secretarial position at the law office of E. Edward Grey. Although she's never had a job in her life, Lee is hired by the mysterious lawyer, who seems unconcerned by her lack of experience.
At first the work seems quite normal and boring - typing, filing and coffee-making - but Lee tries hard to please him, and her family are desperate for her to succeed. Slowly Lee and Mr. Grey embark on a more personal relationship behind closed doors, crossing lines of conduct into a deep realm of human sexuality, a unique love affair, in which the roles of dominance and submission suit both of them perfectly.
'Secretary' is a powerful and unique love story, bold unflinching humour and strange yet seductive eroticism help explore the notion that love doesn't always occur the way we might have expected....

I think this film is amazing, this film carrys every single emotion :- sadness, happiness, humour, love, anger and lust.
It is an unusual picture that keeps you glued. I would definately recommend this to almost anyone, perhaps not those who are easily embarrassed by sex/flesh though!
Excellent

It seems that from reading the reviews loulou22 has entirely missed the point of this film. Ok so it isn't a mills and boon romance; but then most arn't; it shows that love, excitment and romance can be found in many usual ways and that people connect through more then just flowers and cheap chocolates. You feel that this will be a relationship that will last as they are both open and honest about what each other needs. The film deals with what could be disturbing subject matter in a sensetive way; and says a lot sometimes without saying anything at all; such as the end scene where Lee gazes into the camera, she dares us to judge her; but ultimately we don't. Maybe the fact that they end up in suburban sobriety demonstartes that within all the fakeness that prevades within demesticity they are truly honest.
