Although this could be described as quite slow paced, It really does bring up many issues which will stay with you for days after watching. As a parent myself it really touched a nerve with the subject matter, the lead character is likeable as he is just a normal guy trying to come to terms with a terrible incident. The moral questions this film raises you could debate for hours after watching. I also think the lack of music gives this film an eerie edge, although it's not the gore fest that it seems there are still some horrific scenes. One in the start of the film is difficult to forget. All in all a fantastic psychological horror, brilliantly directed and well worth buying.
Its definately not for the faint hearted, and isnt one of those feel good popcorn films for a Friday night. If, however, you like well thought out plots, with fantastic acting, then this is certainly a film I would recommend watching.
The anguish felt by the lead character is brilliantly portrayed, and throughout the film you feel his pain and see him battle with his inner demons.
Another film i thought was particularly well done on the paedophile subject was Mystic River. Its an American film, where, with the strong accents you might also require subtitles to understand it:-)
This film is brilliant, it is well acted and the story is realistic, the subject is very upsetting and having young daughters myself I did spend about a third of the film crying - and I never cry in films!
This film is not about gore its about a man trying to deal with a great loss and not knowing how to manage his grief.
It is in French with english subtitles which it states on the back of the DVD plus as all the actors names are french and not familiar it may give you an idea that its foreign, this film is not funny at all!
A masterfully bleak film, 7 days (not an Asian horror film as I originally had thought from the cover) is a hard-hitting, character driven revenge thriller that grabs you by the hair and forces you to pay close attention. Taut, shocking and extremely well-acted, the effective decision to film the entire movie without a score, made it a more intimately disturbing and harrowing piece of cinema. The French, once again, prove they hold no punches when it comes to movie makling, and aren't afraid to take the long route. I highly recommend this!
A bleak, but tense and engrossing revenge thriller. Very well acted and directed but upsetting at times and will make you ask yourself what you would do in the same situation as Bruno Hamel..
