FROM HELL, referring to the return address on a letter penned by the Ripper, is about people who are in hell, trying to survive the grimmest circumstances. At the core are five impoverished prostitutes who share a desperate friendship, drawn tighter as their ranks are terrorized by a gruesome murderer. Mary Kelly, Kate Eddowes, Liz Stride, Dark Annie Chapman and Polly exist on the brink, earning a meagre living with their bodies in a society that concurrently dishonours and feeds upon them. Owning virtually nothing of value, they are threatened by a monster that would steal from them their only possession: existence.

Brilliant film, Johnny Depp and Heather Graham are both amazing and play their characters so well, the films story is great and has allot of bloody violence in it. At any cost a worthy movie to own.

Jack the Ripper is no stranger to popular culture. Arguably one of the greatest mysteries of all time, the speculation and ambiguity surrounding those harrowing events of 1888 allow for wild and wonderful speculation. "From Hell" is a film about a possible solution to the Ripper murders, involving an intricate and original conspiracy theory in its plot line, which even if fantastical makes for a gripping watch.
Depp is superb as Frederick Abberline, adding an element of the supernatural to the otherwise pretty historically accurate figure. I would not go so far as to call this film a Horror however, as despite the promising subject matter there are few suspense, or "jump" moments, and is more likely to affect those delicate of stomach than those with fragile nerves as some of the killers are brutally graphic.

Depp along with an all-star cast including Ian Holm, Heather Graham and Robbie Coltrane, along with the meticulous staging of the film manages to make the it believable, allowing for a few artistic licenses!

A good film, great plot line, easy to watch again and again and a must for all Depp fans!

This is a very interesting approach to the Jack the Ripper killings in the Whitechapel area many years ago and i feel it worked really well. Starring Johnny Depp and Robbie Coltrane this movie just never disappointed. It was really well shot in the Victorian London setting and the acting along with a strong plot was highly enjoyable. It does take a while to get going but it is a film that will be highly engaging once it does. Enjoy

In From Hell, Johnny Depp stars as the psychic but troubled Inspector Abberline who tries to help Mary Kelly (Heather Graham) and her group of friends in 1888 London, where Jack the Ripper is doing what he does best.

This film is gruesome in places but really gives a good insight on who Jack the Ripper might have been and why he would have done the terrible things that he did. Rated an 18, it is scary in places, but what would you expect from a flim based on the life of Jack the Ripper?!

I would definatly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys horror movies, is interested in Jack the Ripper or just simply loves Johnny Depp!!

Not a bad job done on one of the many possible theories of who Jack the Ripper was. Great cast starring Johnny Depp(who does quite a good job putting on a cockney accent),Heather Graham,Robbie Coltrane,Ian Holm and many others. It keeps you interested and has a few jumps and scares along the way. Also because is based on a real life killer who was never caught it gives you an idea of what it was like around London at that time . Quite interesting
