To have a movie with one superhero is cause enough for a blockbuster comic-to-movie film, yet to star not one but 6 extraordinary characters (including Dracula and Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde) is going the distance. This created a movie full of different talents and abilities, all backed by a plot to prevent the war. The film itself is genuinely fun and has impressive special effects and action scenes that should be viewed!

Definitely in a league of it's own !!!!

At first i was abit sceptical about this movie, thought it was going to be long & drawn out but boy was i wrong, this is a splendid story which involves a hunter, a scientist,a vampire, an invisible man, an immortal, a spy, a beast ,what a legion of superheroes! And what a performance from Sean Connery. An absolutely brilliant film!!!!

     Troubled Production, Uneven Movie.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) is a comic book action adventure movie starring Sean Connery, Peta Wilson, Stuart Townsend and Jason Flemyng.

Set in an alternate Victorian Age, the plot revolves around a group of famous contemporary fantasy characters who team up on a secret mission.

This movie had a very troubled production. Cult writer Alan Moore disowned the movie because it was so different from his original graphic novel. Star Sean Connery and director Stephen Norrington (Blade) had such an awful working relationship that Connery retired from acting while Norrington decided to give up directing and hasn't worked since.

The off-screen problems reflect on the movie itself. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a mess of a movie. The action sequences look cheap and rushed while the story makes little sense. The cast struggle to make any real impact working with cardboard characters and cheesy dialogue.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is a movie which should have been so much better. It simply fails to deliver. My advice is seek out Alan Moore's far superior graphic novel.
