Camille: Kryten, Red Dwarf's on board mechanoid, rescues a female droid - Camille - from a crashed vessel. She's a 4000 series just like him, only a GTi model with realistic toes and a slide-back sunroof head. Kryten finds himself falling in advanced mutual compatibility on the basis of a primary ident (what humans call "love at first sight") only to find that true advanced mutual compatibility never runs in a non-glitch, bug-free way.

DNA: The crew lock on to an unidentified craft containing the ultimate genetic engineering technology - a machine that can transform any living thing into any other living thing, by re-writing its DNA. A blessing or a curse? Then Lister's curry finds its way into the transmogrifier and assumes near-human form.

Justice: Innate justice does not exist anywhere in the known universe except, that is, for Justice World, an abandoned penal colony equipped with a "justice field" which inflicts the consequences of a crime on its perpetrator. The innocent have nothing to fear. Rimmer is in big trouble.

White Hole: Holly regains her genius level IQ and for reasons best known to herself powers down the ship, leaving the crew drifting helplessly towards a White Hole. Will Rimmer sacrifice his hologramatic life to save the rest of the crew?

Dimension Jump: In a universe almost identical to our own, another Arnold Rimmer exists. A test pilot in the Space Corps, he is charming, popular, brave and modest. After his test craft breaks the speed of reality, he finds himself face to face with his counterpart aboard Red Dwarf.

Meltdown: A matter transporter whisks the crew to Waxworld - a giant theme park, where the waxdroids have broken their programming, and are running amok. Hitler, Caligula and the Boston Strangler lead an army of darkness against the forces of Elvis, Gandhi and Stan Laurel.

Flying high on the success of Series 3, Series 4 of 'Red Dwarf' showed no signs whatsoever of flagging. From the wonderful Casablanca-inspired 'Camille' episode to the hilarious 'Meltdown' every episode continued to shine and never did it feel like it was in danger of growing tired and predictable. The DVD, again, is pure class with another all-new documentary, a featurette on the legendary Ace Rimmer, more deleted scenes, outtakes, easter eggs and an interesting, though somewhat embarrasing, episode of 'Can't Cook, Won't Cook' with Ainsley Harriet (no stranger to the show having played a Gelf in Series 6) moderating a cook-off between Lister, Rimmer, Kryten and Dwayne Dibley! The sheer love and attention with which these DVDs have been compiled will no doubt overjoy fans of the show, very few other shows (save perhaps Dr. Who) have shown quite so much care with compiling extra material to satisfy all the fans. If you were already a fan of the show by now then the Dwarf was, by now, a thing of monumental brilliance. And still the wonders continued...

If anything I personally find the offerings this time round to be even stronger than the third season with the debut of 'Ace Rimmer' in "Dimension Jump", the crews attempts to make Holly brilliant in "White Hole", Kryten and Lister temporarily changed to correspondingly human and a chicken in "DNA" plus that marvellous Waxworld finale offered up in "Meltdown". For this fourth 2 disc set the hidden item can be found if you select the 'Select Episode' option from the Main Menu. Then as you exit the control room and journey through the corridor you'll come across a Skutter holding a video tape. Quickly click on this robotic creation will reveal a 1 ¾ min featurette type movie of the cast having an Easter egg hunt during their commentary recording session. The BBC have once again done us proud with the range of bonus features extras on offer on the second disc which is spearheaded by another lavishly detailed and entertaining original documentary, this one entitled "Built To Last" weighs in at an impressive 73 ½ mins length and follows the same type of format as you'd find on the previous season release. Rubbing shoulders with the usual Deleted Scenes (approx 21 mins), 'Smeg Ups' (10 ¾ mins), 87 image self selection photo gallery, themed featurette (this time its a 3 min one under the title of "Lurve") and a couple of rough quality VHS sourced trailers, plus of course the enclosed 12 page 'collectors booklet' we've got a welcome 'Ace Rimmer - A Life In Lame' item (approx 11 mins) and the 'Can't Smeg Won't Smeg Special' (this delightfully witty 26 ½ min item featuring guest star Ainsley Harriott is another plucked from BBC2's themed night). Certainly this is a release that matches Season Three for the depth and range of extras providing further excellent value for money in a series that is beginning to exhibit a real 'labour of love' from those involved in the production and marketing of Red Dwarf as a DVD title. Highly recommended!
