Kill Bill - Volume 1 (5.1/DTS)

Great Film!!! Really impressed with Uma Thurman and how she played this role. Alot of people were critical of the film just because it was based on a women taking out all of these evil people. But what does that matter??? I thought she was class, and did she look good in that outfit ;-)

I think the story is great too. It is a path leading to revenge. Not sure if Uma got any awards for her role in this film but she should have and Tarentino as well..

With Kill Bill Volume 1 Tarantino continues to show the world his unparallelled skill in both 'borrowing' from classic genre films and successfully making them feel very much his own. Uma Thurman gives a career-defining performance as the blood-spattered bride and the film is stylish, sexy, violent, hilarious and way, way cool. Another superb soundtrack only adds to the enjoyment and its a trial in itself for me to pick a favourite moment although the anime section and the quite extraordinary showdown at the House of Blue Leaves would probably be top of the list. Though only released in 2003 the phenomonal influence this film has had - from its imagery, style and soundtrack - can still be seen all over the place today. Quite how a director can make such an incredible impact on Hollywood with a mere 4 films under his directorial belt must simply be that Tarantino is, despite what some people will have you believe, a genius. Kill Bill will have you tranfixed from beginning to end and, even better, there's still more to come....

Uma Thurman and Quentin Tarantino both roar and get 'bloody satisfaction' in QT's fourth film, a more than worthy entry into his list of ingenious movies.

Unfortunately the film was split in two and what was meant to be his fourth film became his fourth and 'new' movie, the film should really be watched back to back with volume two but maybe the split made the film even more endearing, people watch volume one and go for a rollercoaster of a ride that sets up the climax for volume two.

This may not be Tarantino's finest or cleverest script but he gives it a good go and delivers on the action in probably one of his most outrageous movies ever, in a good way, he creates a dark, bright and comical world where Uma Thurman's character, the Bride, a former assassin is betrayed by her boss/lover and band of killers and 'killed' on her wedding day, skip four years later awaking from a coma she seeks revenge on the ones that put her there and does it with such style, delivering a lot of action and a lot of blood.

Uma Thurman is amazing in possibly her best role ever, showing just how good of an actress she really is and why she is considered one of QT's girls. If Uma had not of taken the role i doubt the film would have been the film it is today. Lucy Lui is also great in a memorable role as one of the bride's old 'co-workers' her origin is also shown in an anime type cartoon which also adds to the surreal world of Kill Bill.

The first Volume holds five chapters, all shown out of chronological order, but after seeing volume two it will all fit together like a jigsaw, it does sound confusing but this is QT after all. The final showdown is excellent and half shown in black and white, probably to keep the blood off the screen because, yes, it is bloody messy.

Quentin's choice of music really fits well with the films eastern tones meets western for the second volume, merging the two tones together as the merge of the two films approach.

The first volume does stand alone well but it really does have to be seen with its counterpart, here characters are set up and back story ready for the climax to come. Tarantino really is the best at what he does and this is probably his fourth best movie, he does have more to offer but for some reason holds back a bit, but don't let that put you off this is an amazing piece of cinema.

This is an absolutely riproaringly brilliant movie from probably one of the best and unorthodox directors ever in Quentin Tarantino. Uma Thurman is awesome as the bride who is seeking revenge on everyone responsible for the massacre of her wedding party. Its an action bloodbath like none other. You have to appreciate QT and the martial arts film industry before you can like this. Uma Thurmans best film by far and one of my favourites in recent years. Enjoy

By far my favourite tarantino movie. I've watched it hundreds of times and still not bored. It's so original and action pacted that it leaves you wanting more, thank god for volume 2!! The music is great of course and the cast are amazing. Watch it... It doesn't disappoint!
