Nowhere near the original but still an ok movie with a good cast.

What you have got to remember with this film is that although it carries the name The Italian Job and includes a few mini's it basically has nothing at all, zip, nilch, nada, nyet to do with the original. Therefore treating it as a totally separate film under a different, more accurate name of The American Job you will find that it is actually not a bad film. Can't be that bad, I bought i on DVD. But it's entertaining, has some good scenes in it and is well worth a watch or two. Imagine the remake of Oceans 11 meets The Bank Job.

After watching the real Itallian Job movie i was gripped by how much of a stunning film it was soon as i found out it was being remaked i laughed i thought there was no way they could remake such a great film I was right i watched this movie and soon as it started i despised it entirely the most shocking thing about it was that it had nothing to do with the real movie and also it was full of stupid yanks who couldn't act there way out a paper bag Terrible movie

It's very good,

After two or three watches, it gets boring, its the sort of film you watch every couple of years or something.
But the first time you watch it is still brilliant, so pay a reasonable price, because you will only watch it once.

I think to start with it's important to say that this isn't really a remake of the original, its more of a new film that pays homage to a classic. The original was a very British affair, and this is very American. Not that that is a good or bad thing, its just a fact.

Its a pacy film, where it'll reach the end before you notice you've been sitting there for over an hour and a half. Mark Wahlberg puts in a fine performance as Charlie, and has good chemistry with the beautiful Charlize Theron. The main disappointment for me was the performance of Ed Norton, one of the finest actors around currently. You can tell that he was forced into taking the movie due to contract commitments with Paramount, as he just doesn't seem to fit the role.

All in all its a pretty good action movie, but perhaps should have been called 'The American Job' instead to stop it from being compared.

Not sure I agree with the other reviews about it being better than the original but neither do I think it's awful. When I first saw this I expected the worst after reading some fairly negative critisicm but, to my surprise, I found that I actually quite enjoyed it.
This version in no way has the cheeky charm of the Mr Caine's very British romp but if you put that to one side and think of this as a straight forward action flick it'll more than satisfy you on a boring Sunday afternoon.

This is an excellent film, great chases and acting. Its easily as good as the original film, and the new minis look really cool. Well worth watching.

I luuuuved this film! The best remake from the original. The original one was so boring and i can't stand Michael Caine!
This American version is great. It has two of my favourite actors in it, Mark Wahlberg and British actor Jason Statham! Both of them are so gorgeous! I wouldn't mind if i was to be Marks of Jason's wife!!!! Girls you're going to love this film!! There's more fit blokes in it!! Better acting from all the cast and some good action and a bit of laughs thrown in it that makes this film the best remake!!!! You will enjoy this film from start to finish!! This film gets five stars from me!!!!

One of the worst remakes ever. Completely takes away the point of the original. this ones filled with new minis and American actors.
utter rubbish

The remake of The Italian Job is so much better than the original. It has a lot more action and it has some funny moments in it. My favourite character is Charlie, played by Mark Whalberg. It is one of the best remakes I have ever seen. Thank u F Gary Gray for remakin' this film
