"Alien" is the first movie of one of the most popular sagas in science fiction history, and introduces Sigourney Weaver as Ripley, the iron-willed woman destined to battle the galaxy's ultimate creature. The terror begins when the crew of the spaceship Nostromo investigates a transmission from a desolate planet and makes a horrifying discovery, a life form that breeds within a human host. Now the crew must fight not only for its own survival, but for the survival of all mankind.

This first film of the 'Alien' franchise in my opinion is the best.Sigourney Weaver stars for the first time as Ripley, who is arguably the most heroic and popular heroine in the history of film. The film has some scary and infamous moments including the chest bursting scene! 10/10

All time classic sci-fi horror that stands the test of time extremely well, I watched only a few days ago and never once did it occur to me that I was watching a film made more than 30 years ago...

Excellent and original story that has been copied or mimicked many times since and is a must see for any sci-fi or horror fans!

Stars for the theatrical, review for the Director´s cut

Everybody knows this film so let this review be more about the director´s cut. It´s unnecessary. Basically some over five minutes removed from the original and then added few minutes of new footage. Soundtrack differs slightly also. It may give some answers at the near end to questions I didn´t need to ask, that no one should need to ask, and almost ruined the experience for me. The movie was perfect as it was and the theatrical version is the only one I´ll watch for now on.

A shorter Directors Cut than the Theatres? Even Better

When Ridley Scott was given the opportunity to re-cut his 1979 masterpiece, he added in scenes, made some scenes shorter (Mainly Ripley running away to the lifepod after setting the ships auto destruct.) and overall improved this masterpiece.

Great sets and effects, this movie has a truly futuristic appeal about it and does stand the almost 30 year test of time.

It runs smoother and feels more dynamic and even more terrorising in this slightly shorter version of the Theatrical Release.

A great perfomance from Ian Holme and indeed all the cast as they deal with the Alien who in one of the most famous scenes of all time. Takes over a ship mates body before bursting through his chest at dinner and then subsequently, through cat and mouse and truly jumpy shocking scenes, stalks the rest of the crew.

Not an action film like its Sequal, a methodical chill ride. This is a classic film and if your an Aliens fan, essential to see the directors vision of his movie.
