Cars 2 (Pixar)

nowhere near as good as the first, watched it once and resold it, same as most second movies it tries to hard and fails to please, not worth buying.

I loved the first one but enjoyed the second just as much if not more!

It's easy to forget after its tear jerking meditations on mortality and obsolescence that Pixar makes movies for kids.
Cars 2 redresses the balance by rewarding the demographic who made the 2006 original Pixar's most profitable property, at least in terms of merchandise revenue.
Manna for those with a boys toys mindset, the sequel is equal parts petrolhead pedal flooring, Bond esque spy games and goofy slapstick. Yet with its confused plot and perpetual sugar rush visuals, it,s also liable to induce a headache.
The espionage stuff works best. Half the fun of watching a 007 movie comes from the chases, so there's plenty of mileage in setting an action thriller within the existing Cars universe. The opening set piece is exhilarating and Michael Caine a suave choice for the voice of superspy Finn McMissile.
Where the film falters is in the contractual obligation to yoke the original cast into the plot, which leaves Owen Wilson's Lightning McQueen driving around in a circus, and forces Larry the Cable Guy's tow truck Mater into the spotlight to replicate the first film's fish out of water premise.
By Pixar's standards, this is light and disposable. Presented in tandem with a similarly charming but functional Toy Story short 'Hawaiian Holiday,' Cars 2 suggests a studio coasting on its rep while their rivals are raising their game.
By taking the scenic route, the champion of animation risks losing pole position.
What makes Cars 2 such a obvious step backwards for the studio is 2010's outstanding Toy story 3 that showed they were still way ahead of other studio's CGI toons, but with this movie being actually weaker than 2006 Cars and with the likes of Dream Works King Fu Panda 2 being an improvemment on the original Cars 2 just seems to be coasting.
But that's an adults perspective and if you are under 10 years old you'l lap up every colourful moment.

What a great film.
One of Pixars best in fact possibly better than the 1st one.
Character are really good with some great stand out moments.
This is a great film that all the family will love!!

I'm always nervous of 2nd, 3rd, 4th versions of brill films. For years the 1st one was always best. Then I saw through Toy Story now Trilogy what Disney/Pixar was capable of.

Through that I have a much more open mind, and see more sequels to great films with my young daughter.

My girl, 4.5 years, adores Cars 1 and watches it every other week. She adores her Lightning McQueen toy car, and even took it to the movie screening we saw the day it came out, as though she was at the theatre and wanted to show Lightning her love and dedication.

Well, Lightning - and more so Mater - never let us down!! Cars 2 - the much anticipated sequel was more than amazing!!! We saw it the day it was released in the UK and were both hooked (as mentioned the daughter is 4.5 years, and I am 24). With voices from phenomenol actors such as Michael Caine, a lot of London as well as other big cities around the globe, a lot of action, a lot of adventure and, as expected, a lot of comedy, this film is sure to hit the spot.

Can Not Wait for DVD release!!!! Definitely go see, you'll definitely want to buy the disc afterwards!

*Car's 2 has received mixed reviews. With such high expectations some of the Cars 1 fans have been left a little disappointed that the film is slightly different to the first film. Car's 2 takes on a 'Spy' film approach.
*Car's 2, as a film by itself is still a good film. There's some amazing Graphic's and some great voice-over's. The detail in the cities like Paris and London is amazing and very cleverly produced.
*My main concern was the plot. The first half of the film was a little confusing resulting in some restless kids at the cinema. After the half way point the film & story really came together and the action and races really took off. By no means an all out classic but still a good film.

I loved the original Cars movie, and this, while still good, is nothing like the first. It's like James Bond, with the characters as cars. I didn't like the references to killing - it's a little kids film after all, but it was still funny and entertaining. For me, the best part was the scenery (how dull, you're thinking?) - seriously! When they're racing round London I was stunned at the attention to detail. The animators are geniuses. Worth a look, but I felt it lacked the charm of the first film.

I never thought it would be possible but Cars 2 is even better than Cars 1! I saw it in the cinema with my 6 year old son and we both loved it. I will buy it as soon as it is available on DVD. And just like Cars 1 it will be one of the most watched DVD's in our house. A must have!
