This movie remake is as good as the origanal but still does'nt quite live up to the origanal, nothing will ever beat that movie. Yet again though people are still slagging this film off left right and centre, why cant they leave it alone. It's well made and well acted. This is a film i would definately recommend to any horror fan. It is'nt often you get well made remakes but this is one of the ones well worth watching.
NOT AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL

I am a massive fan of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film so in my opinion this really shouldnt have been made. The original is without a doubt one of the best horror films of all time so I didnt see the point in remaking it.
However, I was intriqued to see what they would do with an updated version. It is clear this film was made for film goers or today as it has far more gore in it than the original but far less scary moments. Dont get me wrong its horrible and quite violent in parts but I was never actually freaked out scared by it.
If you look at this as a stand alone horror film this is very good and if you are into your horror films like me then this is definately a worthy addition to your DVD collection.
Greatest horror movie to date

This film without doubt has to be my favourite of all time. The original is without doubt a classic but the remake is slightly better. The storyline & acting is all perfect & the scenario is just perfect. A must have for all horror fans
This hardly deserves one star in my opinion!

After reading the reviews of this film I brought it on a wim thinking it would be a good scary movie. Unfortunately I was extremely let down! This film is neither scary or gory and I really don't see how anybody could watch it more than once. If you were considering buying this before watching it then my advice is to watch it first and then decide. There are many great horror movies out there but in my opinion, this is NOT one of them!
in agreement

i have to agree with the other reviewers, this is far better than the over hyped original which ifound very drawn out, boring and annoying(the screaming!!!!)however....the re-make is not anythin like the original,in fact it has everything the original doesnt have,i can watch this film over and over and never get bored.this and the hills have eyes re-make are the best out there, also tcm the begining is another very good film, not as good as the re-make but a worthy effort.also click on the link below for switchblade romance and click on BUY cuz you wont spend a better 4.99 on a film ever!!!!best horror film ive ever seen!!!!
A REMAKE THATS A CUT ABOVE THE REST !

The original 1973 movie is without a doubt a classic.
With this 2003 remake allot of the fans of the original would take an instant dislike to ,even before seeing it, as in "if it's not broke than don't try to fix it " I was one of these fans. How could anbody have the balls to mess with pefection ? They tried with Psycho and messed that up. So it was to great suprise that after seeing the remake I could say that it stands up to the original. The film plays it clever by keeping it set in the summer of 1973, and the set up is very similar to the original.but thats when it pulls the rug from under you feet and goes in a different direction. The opening scenes with the suicide in the van is a real shocker, and sets the real sense of fear and dread that sticks with the film to the final second. Only once does the film miss-step and thats by giving leather face a back story and a reason to do what he does. This feels out of place with the rest of the film. but this is soon forgotten by having R.LEE ERMEY ( FULL METAL JACKET )
as the sherrif He is the backbone to this film and he steals every scene he is in,both sadistic and very funny in equel measure. Also allot of time had been given by fleshing out the characters, so when the slaughtering comes, you do feel for the victims. The film is different from the original as this is more a shocker with allot more jumps. as the original was more disturbing and got under your skin more. Also sadly missing from this remake was the dinner scene , and nothing is mentioned about the grave stealing. But this is a new vision of the massacre. and a different kind of monster. I recommend this film to fans of the original ,as if they have not seen it, may enjoy it as much. But saying that, there is always the hard core fans who will just hate it because they have remade a classic.
Beats the original!!!

This is the first time i can actually say that a remake of a film is better than the original. I didn't like the first one much, i know it was made years ago when directors didn't have much money to spend on their films but look at Halloween and Friday the 13th for example, their directors didn't have alot of money but they produced 2 slasher hits and they still remain the best to date. I just can't say the same for the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre and it was so boring to watch.
This film though i thought was brilliant and the cast that played the Hewitt family were great and sure played their parts to perfection. R. Lee Ermey who played Hoyt was fantastic and he sure scared the hell out of everyone.
10,000 times better than the original !

I must admit, I didn't expect much from this. I just thought it would be blood, screaming and little else. But I was wrong - it actually is a very good film! The acting isn't perfect (but whose is nowadays) but its still one of those rare films that can keep your heart beating a mile a minute. Worth a watch.

The Original Texas chainsaw massacre was a classic horror film and i didnt think that a remake could be has good infact this remake is very enjoyable and offers something new to the viewer.
Now the gritty down and dirty look op the original is not seen in this one. this film is more polished stylish
it wont scare you if you have seen the original but it will shock you and give you bumbs.
a great remake and worth multipal watches.
