First of all this is NOT the complete series. The complete series was never finished, this is half of what is should have been.
On the plus side, this is one of the funniest and most entertaining sci-fi programs I have ever watched. I'm bewildered why FOX dropped this, it would have been a classic.
Basic premis is cowboys in space, what could be better? A tatty old ship, nine characters, some captivating back stories and a full length feature film that can be had for an extra couple of quid.

Saying too much here would give it all away. So i'll just say this. Forget the serious bombast of Star Trek with it's endless reincarnations. Forget the chucklesome bore of Stargate with it's irritating characters. And certainly forget every other lowish budget, vaguely original, indie sci-fi drama you've ever seen. This beats the lot. In one series, Joss Wheadon managed to surpass them all and create something that lives in the hearts of everyone who loves it, that against all odds beat the network suits to become one of the most popular cult sci-fi action series of all time. Buy this people. It's unlike anything that came before or since, and it will change your outlook on sci-fi on TV. Nuff said.

... in my opinion, anyway. But still, the series gets a full 5 out of 5 stars! If you like Joss Whedon, buy this. If you liked 'Serenity' (the movie) buy this! Worth every penny
