Batten down the hatches for unstoppable hilarity that takes 200 years of naval tradition...and throws it overboard!
Veteran skipper John Dodge (Grammer) will never be a textbook officer, but he's a brilliant seaman who's always wanted to command a nuclear submarine. Unfortunately, Dodge is given the helm of a diesel powered WWII sub crewed by a collection of maladjusted and mistake-prone misfits. When he's tagged 'the enemy' in a crucial war game, Dodge is ordered to take on the U.S. Navy's best!

This is a fond updating of the kind of screwball comedies from the 50's which would invariably star Jack Lemon. This time however Fraiser himself Kelsey Grammer takes command as a submarine officer without a submarine. Routinely passed over for promotion, in no small part down to an unfortunately placed tattoo he once drunkenly aquired.
Desiring command of a nuclear sub, he is instead furnished with a creaking bucket of rust and an equally unseaworthy crew and ordered to put the metle of the US Atlantic fleet to the test.
The quality of this film is measured by the fact Rob Schneider manages to be Rob Schneider without becoming annoying... ok he's still a little annoying, you can't have everything I guess!
You could let any age sit down for 90 mins and let the harmless comedy wash over you, if it weren't for one entirely unnecessary expletive. For that one reason alone, this film scuttles a PG rating and instead carries a 12 certificate.
