'Priority One: Alpha Base. The Prometheus has dropped out of orbit. Communications and life support systems are down. Situation Critical: Status of Crew and Prisoner unknown.'

A group of intergalactic commandos crash-land on a desolate and hostile planet while transporting a deadly alien prisoner who escapes and goes on the run. The commandos report in to their home base to seek assistance but are told they must track down and recapture their Alien alive, at all costs.

The surviving commandos play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with their former prisoner who is smart and not easily outwitted. But as the commandos are picked off one-by-one and the odds begin to turn, who is the real hunter and who is the prey?

With a clear nod to the original Star Wars trilogy, Hunter Prey is classic sci-fi that will delight fans with its painstaking recreation of an alien world where danger, conflict and deceit abound.

 Very good scifi B movie

| | See all Grizzerlyadams's reviews (44)

This is a good science fiction B movie. Its story is basically a an escape prisoner story with a few twist and turns. It uses its special effects well not that there are many and has a generally good production values. If you are a sci fi hound I would strongly recommend this one, no its not star wars but it DOESN'T feel like a cheap story-less computer graphics spaceship battle either. In short a good sci fi B movie.

 No to shabby

Sat down to watch this thinking it would be another terrible low budget sci-fi movie but was pleasantly surprised.
No major effects and no attempts to be fancy just a nice solid script and some OK acting. Just goes to show you that you don't need a big budget to make a good movie, look at skyline which had a massive budget but was terrible.

A little game of Cat & Mouse!

I love suspense in movies and I love a little game of Cat & Mouse! This is exactly that: a group of aliens has to transfer an imprisoned alien to their home planet. When he escapes the cat and mouse game begins, but who is the cat and who is the mouse, who is the hunter, who is the prey? After 30 min. something happens and I was hooked!! It's lowbudget ($425000) but very well done, the special effects, make-up and costumes look very good (ok, the special effects aren't much but I liked them) and even the actors do a great job, especially the fully make-up'ed ones! If you like a sci-fi movie and it doesn't have to be all in your face like say 'Transformers' than give this a chance, I was happily surprised!

star wars... nah I'll have abit of hunter prey thanks luv.

well this was very good for a low budget sci fi, the special effects was abit star wars style, the acting was abit meh but hey with a low budget film you'd only expect to see low quality stuff. the plot is abit rubbish because it goes back and fourth with pointless dialog, I liked this movie, why? because I like these type of low budget badly made films. if you're not a fan of these low budget badly made films then walk away and get something like star wars. you big pansy.

 Cool Sci Fi

Low budget sci-fi at its best.
Don't expect lots of explosions or gun fights, this is strictly alien vs alien, with added twists in a desert. I can't say too much without giving a few things away but there is no real reference to Star Wars bar the uniforms and the desert planet.
Definately worth watching if you love sci-fi.

On a side note, the guy who directed this, was responsible for Batman Dead End (the Youtube short film) from 2003 with the Joker and some other nasties (check it out).
