Experience an inspirational and breathtaking journey back to Korea's fabled Joseon Dynasty with this stunning, action-packed adaptation of the life of legendary Empress Myseongseong: the inspirational leader who stirred the courage of her nation in the face of seemingly overwhelming foreign aggression.

A young woman of noble birth embarks on a dangerous cross-country journey, where she encounters an infamous bounty-hunter. Honour-bound, he becomes her protector and against all the odds they fall in love. A few years later, to fulfill a sacred promise, she must enter the royal court and ascend to the throne as Empress, leaving her love behind. However, when aggressive Japanese forces gather against her nation, the bounty hunter will once again stand by her side as a devoted bodyguard. As the conflict escalates to all-out war, her irrepressible leadership will sustain her people and give them the hope of victory. Tragically, as her reputation spreads, she will become a target for assassination, but one man's courage will make all the difference...

An awesome and unexpected gem of a movie!

When I first saw the trailer for this movie I thought that it was going to be an out an out martial arts epic movie. Although there are some cool fighting scenes in it, it is not the primary focus for this movie. The plot is wonderful, not that it hasn't been done before, but done very well. I was almost close to tears at the end! and it takes a lot to get me to that stage. The reason why i give this movie 4 stars is because I'm not entirely convinced that the cool matrix style fight scenes complement the main plot of this movie.

Overall, if you want a good story and one to get your girlfriend or wife to start watches martial arts movies then try this one out. By the way, I'm not saying that girls don't watch martial arts movies, but like my wife she doesn't really watch them but i'll get her to watch this, definitely!
