There are only 35 Vemeers existing in the world today. What if somewhere in the world there existed a 36th? For more than three centuries it has been purchased in passion, sold in desperation and stolen during Nazi occupation. It has won hearts, bought freedom and cost lives. What is the real mystery of Vermeer's 'lost' painting Girl In Hyacinth Blue?
It is a mysterious, fabled and priceless work of art painted by Johannes Vemeer in the 17th century. Today it is in the possession of an eccentric private-school teacher who has devoted her life to researching its sometimes painful, sometimes inspired story. As the intriguing past unfolds, so do the lives of all the previous owners, all linked inextricably and tragically to the enduring legend of one painting.

 A great film.

One of the greatest films I watched. You get hooked up till the end. You wonder how everyone loved this beautiful painting even when they did not know the value of it. Great story. I loved every minute of it. A clean film you would watch again and again, maybe the second time you would understand it a bit better. Five star.
