I saw devils rejects before this film which i thought was amazing so i was expecting this film to be a lot better than it was. i think i would have thought this was better if i had seen it before devils rejects. overall quite a good film but not great so 3 stars for me

on my first viewing of this movie i was quite tensed up and a little freaked out by the whole bunny down the rabbit hole ending.a feeling that very few other films have done.cant see why any horror movie buff wouldnt just love 1000 corpses.

For his first proper film, Rob Zombie presents us with this absolute disaster of a film. Zombie steals the plots of The Hills Have Eyes and The Texas Chainsaw massacre, add some of his own mad visuals and creepy music, and creates 90 of the dullest minutes you will ever see.
The film concerns 4 young people driving around some yokel-infested wasteland in America, they stumble along a demented clown named Captain Spaulding, who tells them of the legend of Doctor Satan. In a search to find out more about this legend, they end up at the home of the Firefly family, who turn out to be sadistic serial killers who have lots of horrible surprises in store for the kids.
Aprat from some genuinely unique moments ("Behold - Fishboy!"), this film is tedious in the extreme, the "jokes" are not funny at all, and it never shocks in the way it intends to. Rob Zombie got things right in the far superior sequel The Devil's Rejects, which is worth checking out, but steer well clear of his first effort.
Zombie's debut Shocker classic...Fanastic

4 young teens meet a deranged family.
Truley disturbing...Sid Haig as Spaulding is the best.
It is a true horror film..singer turned director Rob Zombie has given us a sick, twisted..awesome masterpiece.
Kicks ass!

As I'm not absolute twonk, I don't often refer to things as ass kicking, but this really is ass kicking. It's a dumb movie, but it's meant to be. Everything we love about Wes Craven, John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper (especially Tobe Hooper), George Romero and all the past masters of horror are taken and put into this film. My only gripe is that it sometimes borrows far too heavily from other horror films and is a bit too much of a tribute.
But, despite that, it's everything it should be. Far better than any forgettable crap that's released in the cinema with the "horror" stamp on it nowadays. It's a movie where it doesn't matter whether you're rooting for the baddies or goodies, you can sit back and cheer at the death scenes, gasp at the chase scene's and stare at pretty ladies in skimpy cheer-leading outfits, who were thrown in purely for good measure. Thoroughly tongue-in-cheek, but seriosly good viewing!
Not sure if it's worth £8 though, having said that :O
