Only 2 Stars from me and I am being very kind for doing that. This is by far and by far not a brillant film it's quite bland really. Why people think this film is good is beyond me. They must be crackers or just weird. Tom Cruise has really not acted well in this film. My advice is save your money and just rent it.
I am going to watch it again though to see if it can change my mind. Doubt it.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Epic action movie with a great look into Samurai Japan!

The Last Samurai is a truly great action movie as its cinematography and acting make it a beautifully crafted tale
of the demise of Samurai Japan.

The action sequences are rewarding and plentiful and Tom Cruise is birlliant!

saw this at the cinema when it came out.an epic in every sense of the word.stirring, clever, well written, tom cruise proves he can act (i always said he could) and the other cast members are outstanding.when this was on at the cinema,i stood up at the end with tears in my eyes and clapped till my hands hurt.how many films have had that effect on people ? my only regret was that i saw the last showing on the day it was finishing at my local cinema so i never got chance to go and see it again.many western films about feudal japan ignore the rich culture of the time.this film showed how the samurai when not in battle, had normal family lives and how they all lived.fantastic film, fantastic experience.

Stunning cinematography and beautiful scenery combined with great action sequences.

Connoly & Spall doing great work too. Watanabe's finest performance to date. And solid evidence that Tom Cruise can act too!
