This is indeed another awesome French horror film, an amazing fresh and original zombie movie that has so much style, the story is simple but brilliant, the gore and bloodshed is totally amazing, the movie also has a very high production value too and a great budget and you can see they French have raised the bar again in trying to reinvent themselves with horror. Better than any zombie film in the last ten years. Must own for horror and zombie fans and gore hounds! George Romero wishes survival of the dead was half this good.

 good not great

i will start by saying that this french movie is one of the best zombie movies of late, showing real guts and determination. the acting is strong and the graphic violence and suspense will have you cringing. however, the story doesn't flow as smoothly as it could and the direction is often a bit muddled. there is no explanation as to where the zombies came from or why and the film borrows heavily from other movies of the same genre such as 28 days later and dawn of the dead. nothing new but a good watch.

Once again I feel let down by another zombie film.

I am sure I will get lots of negative feedback for my review but as I bought this DVD based on all the good reviews, I think Im entitled to vent my spleen!

This film is OK, its not brilliant but its certainly not bad.
The good:
Very good cast and very well acted throughout.
Very gory and very fast paced with some pretty good special effects.
Some genuinely funny moments and very inventive set pieces.

The bad:
Pretty much no explanation as to where The Horde have come from and why?
Occasionally a bit silly like Braindead but nowhere near as good.
Overall; A bit of a let-down.

I was very surprised at this movie. Its easily one of the best zombie movies ever. It has very little plot and doesnt compare to 28 days for storyline. BUT its nonstop action and the action is awesome. The zombies are brilliant, the effects superb and the acting is very good. Some of the scenes are very very cool indeed. In fact it plays like a video game rather than a film.
