Put this on without checking the details and was instantly drawn in. The modernization and the chemistry between the characters works really well. Cant say i was entirely convinced by the 'Cases' but overall it was pretty well written television.

  Fantastic

Great plot, great acting, great series. Loved it. I would say this is one of the best BBC production in recent years.

  Great series.

In my opinion, the best Sherlock Holmes adaptation since Granada Holmes. I wish each season had more than 3 episodes.

Not your typical detective series - it's better!

To be honest, I "wanted to hate" this show. A modern Sherlock Holmes? Really? The idea didn't impress me the least. I had sky-high standards - which the show met.
First of all, I am impressed how similar the show is to the original stories despite the fact that it's set in modern day. Like in the original stories Watson has just come home from Afghanistan, and this is the first time anyone has captured Holmes' and Watson's first meeting. The humour is brilliant, the plot twists are breathtaking, and you really fall in love with the actors. Cumberbatch and Freeman make the perfect match for this. I think this show also captures their unique friendship in a very graceful way. 5 stars, definitively!

  LOVE IT!

My only previous connection to the Sherlock Holmes stories was a brief period of high shool spent studying The Adventure of the Speckled Band, which I'm afraid put me off for life. However, when my brother forced me to watch this updated adaptation of the detective I completely fell in love! The superb casting is what makes this such a success. Cumberbatch and Freeman are very believable as the characters of Sherlock and John and the supporting roles are also very well acted. I have not been this engaged in a TV series for years! It's brilliant.

I'm not really a Sherlock Holmes fan...

...but this series has really changed my mind. I sat down to watch the first episode when it was originally aired, with a certain reluctance. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it, but I couldn't have been more mistaken.
The real strength of this series is it's casting. Benedict Cumberbatch is superb as a modern day Holmes, proving he is certainly one to watch. The chemistry between himself and Martin Freeman is a joy to watch, with the way they really bounce off each other and create a believable partnership. One exception to the rule is the casting of the third episodes villain. I wasn't too impressed, and what's with the accent!?
The script is sharp and concise, yet full of personality (as to be expected from 'Doctor Who' writer Stephen Moffat, and 'League of Gentlemen's' Mark Gatiss) and the way it has been brought bang up to date is inspired.
I'd strongly recommend this series to anyone who hasn't seen it, and to do it quick before the new series shows early next year!

  Alternate world Holmes!

Wonderful plots mixing different short-storys effectively. First episode follws A Study in Scarlet with a reasonably good twist. Characters are well played and intelligently portrayed, Quite faithful to the originals, apart from Moriarty... Can't make up my mind about that one...Highly recommended supplement to the canon! Well filmed with nice textual overlays for mobile phone messages, etc. Gatiss is always superb, both as actor and as contributor. Love the themesong and Sherlock-motif. Get it!

OMG Benedict Cumberbatch I love You!!!!

This series is so fantastic that I have already watch it a zillion times and am off to watch it again after writing this review. The Sherlock story has been brilliantly been updated to modern times and the two leads of Benedict Cumberbatch(OMG I Love You) and Martin Freedman(my feelings are strong for you too!!!) are superbly cast. These two actors will be going a long way in the future. If you only ever watch one thing make it this. You will not be disappointed. Role on the new series.............

A brilliant masterpiece that completely modernises the whole Sherlock Holmes View. Superbly put together and well thought out. The episodes are just perfect. Each 90 minutes long and 90 minutes of excellence. The acting was just spot on, Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman have made this series what it should be both as brilliant as each other.

I cannot commend this enough, my girlfriend and I loved every minute of it, The first episode we thought was the best completely drawing you in and wanting you to find out more.

The whole thing makes you think you are on some sort of adventure with them where it feels as if you are being engaged in the DVD some how.

I cannot wait for the next series due for release autumn next year.

Recommend this to all 5/5!!
