I got this for my boyfriend as a Christmas gift. He thinks Shogun is fantastic and remembers watching it years back. Glad to say he still thoroughly enjoyed watching them again, and had to watch every single disc back to back. Came perfectly packaged and a well presented box set, cannot fault.

I also watched this as a child and loved it wasnt expecting to love it as much now as a 38yr old but it was totally addictive and we spent a whole weekend watching the entire set was sad when it finished.

A 17th Cenury epic. Follow the exploits of Pilot-Major John Blackthorne (Richard Chamberlin) as he finds himself and his crew stranded after they become shipwrecked off the Japanease coast. There is everything you could want in the series, it is compelling viewing. I watched the series for the first time in the 80's and vowed that if and when it came out on DVD I would buy it. I paid full price for it and worth every penny, I would still pay full price for it now, so at £10.99 you have to buy it. 5 disks of 3 Golden Globe awarding winning excellence.

ALL PAY "HOMAGE" TO THE BEST MINI SERIES EVER (BAR NONE)

The title says it all, this has to be the "BEST" mini series ever made. It is so good that I can not even begin to tell you how good it is in this little space. Richard Chamberlin is not good, he is brilliant i would go as far as to say fantastic. You also have Toshiro Mifune who is in, Yojimbo, Rashomon, Throne Of Blood and the great Seven Samurai that were all directed by the one and only, late great Akira Kurosawa. So treat yourself and get a copy of this fantastic mini series. It also has one of the most sad ending of all time, I will not give the end away. And at the price of £10.99 you can not go wrong, I paid £32.99 when it first came out and it was still worth every penny of that.

You cannot go wrong with this

A fantastic series, especially for those fans of Kurosawa, Toshiro Mifune or just people who are fascinated by Japanese culture. The included documentary DVD is also excellent. I cannot believe this is not only £9.99. A true collectors DVD, you would be nuts to miss this one!

     A Great Mini Series!

It's like a massive dose of Japanese culture, with a great plot, great acting, and it feels very authentic. It does look a little dated but every other thing this series offers completely makes up for it. For the price on Play.com it's fantastic value for money. A classic!

     Magnificent - A masterpiece.

Brilliant, I remember watching this as a kid, and being totally fascinated by the Japanese way of life, its like a history lesson, action, drama, suspense, love, betrayal, suicide, murder, being scared and excited, I never wanted this series to end. I dont really think there will be anything like this made ever again, Soundtrack is superb, although you will be hard pressed to find it. If you like this watch the Last Samurai, if you want another fix of Japanese drama. and at 9hrs long Great. Toshiro Mifune fantasic, Richard Chamberlin Brilliant. and yes it has got Ninja's in it......LOADS OF EM.... They don't seem to make em like this anymore... seriously
