Many people didn't like this sequel because it strayed too far from the original, with it's cute little munchkins, it's catchy songs and amazing technicolor.
Well, I am afraid that was not the true story of the wizard of Oz, they may have got the basics right but Oz is a much scarier place and this second outing shows us that.
When I originally saw this film, the whole world that L. Frank Baum had created, suddenly became bigger and I loved it. At 5 yrs old I remember being scared to death by Mombi and her Halls of Heads.
Ok so it wasn't a musical and none of the original cast was in it, but it never tried to live up to the classic. This was a new breed of Oz.
Give this film another try, you may find that this time you may appreciate it more..........

As a child, my mum used to sit me down in front of the TV with the VHS of 'Return to Oz' on multiple different occassions, and I never seemed to complain, in fact, I think I would go as far as to say that I enjoyed it.

However, now, at twenty, every person my age I know that's seen the film has come away scarred for life. We all have deep sated fears of the creatures and places and...well, it's just a warning. People may say that you should let your children watch it, but make sure, as an adult, you watch it first! My flat mates and I all think it's one of the scariest and most disturbing films in existance, and that, we believe, is left over from our childhood.

Nevertheless, it's most certainly a classic.

I remember first seeing this film at christmas when i was 9 years old and thought it was both scary and enchanting.
Jack Pumpkinhead was my favorite character, the most fearsome band of character's were The Wheeler's.
Since i have grown custom to "thing's that are scary", that emotion has vanished, but instead i cry almost too easily now.
I have just watched this film for the first time in year's, and it still make's me smile.
A glorious tale bought to life by Walt Disney that will be enjoyed by Disney and Oz fan's alike.
