 Poor.

Not only is this film overly hyped and overly praised, but it attempts to get along on a hook that has infected every form of film in the cinemas - 3D technology. Honestly, what does this film have except good special effects? The storyline is beyond poor, the acting is average and the characters are complete cliches.

Avoid if you're looking for a good film, but put it high up on your list if you're looking for a film that doesn't require you to use any brainpower.

December 18th 2009 I went to see Avatar in 3D, I was blown away as it immersed me into the world of Pandora.
Then came the first release on DVD in April 2010. With no extra's and no 3D the film lacked the extra dimention and although the film was still great, it's faults were more obvious.
Then in July 2010 Cameron decided to milk the cash cow even more and re-released Avatar with eight minutes of extra scenes that some how he did not release seven month prior. I did resist going to see it in July on princeple of 20th Century Fox milking us even more.
So now this re-released three disc version contains the original cut, the re-release version and for forgiveness the Collectors addition with seventeen minuts of added footage, that does flush out some of the characters and adds more of a back story including a brilliantly added opening sequence with Suly on earth and the much talked about inter-species-erotica! ( although that's nothing to get hot and bothered about, if that's your kind of thing)
In all, we should have got this version back in April and not strung on and milked for another addition, but the bonus features and three versions of the film are well worth the wait.
If your a fan of the film then just give into temptation and buy the ultimate Blue Movie and revisit Pandora!
See if you like.....
Last Of The Mohicans.
Dances With Wolves.
Fern Gully The Last Rain Forrest.
2001.
The Abyss.

 my honest reveiw

though i agree with what some people say here am with Blutey on most of his review, don't get me wrong the FX are mind blowing and it was visually a beautiful film.

the major problem i have with it though is Sam Worthington is wooden and can only play one person in all his films, the story was in its core exactly the same as dances with wolves and about 15 other films i can name.

dont get me wrong i enjoyed it but please dont go and buy this film expecting to see a mind blowing masterpiece.

 AWESOME! MUST BUY!

Seen this film (the non-special edition) about eight times and i must say the 3-D tech in it is astounding. The first time i didn't see much of the film for picking my jaw up off of the floor. This film is 9000/10 when watching in 3D but with standard viewing its still awesome, but need a little more imagination. Also look out for the novel James Cameron is planning to write, its basically a novelisation of the film! EPIC!
