Danny Madigan (Austin O'Brien), a young cinema fan, is crazy about his all-time great movie hero, L.A. cop Jack Slater (Arnold Schwarzenneger).

Having received a magic golden cinema ticket, Danny is blasted through the big screen and into the action alongside his celluloid hero, who is more than a little puzzled by his presence. Fasten your seatbelt, as the dare-devil duo dodge bullets, bombs and bad guys in a whirlwind world where anything is possible!

But. ..disaster strikes when the baddies grab half the magic ticket and make their escape into the real world, where they find life a doddle for two rogues intent on madness and mayhem. With Jack and Danny in hot pursuit, hold your breath as the action addicts discover that real life can be even more exciting than the movies.

This film gets some bad reviews from people but I think thats a little unfair. I am a big Arnold Schwarzenegger fan so may be slightly biased but I think you can't take yourself to seriously if you want to enjoy this film. It isn't a serious action film, it's a spoof of all action films and I think it has been done really well.

I think its quite clever of Arnold Schwarzenegger to spoof the genre that he has been involved in for the majority of his film career, many other actors would have been unwilling to do that. This film is meant to entertain and thats what it does, if your looking for anything more then don't moan about the film.

This is up there with the best of Arnold Schwarzeneggers films in my opinion so I would would strongly recommend this film to anyone.

One of late Schwarzenegger's best movies

This movie has a bad rep and and I would say it's undeserved. If you want a movie that has genuinely good humor and excellent action then is a good choice.

I think people were expecting more of an early Schwarzenegger movie and not a comedy. So despite the fact it was done well, a fair few people were disappointed.

Also it's not as violent as Arnie's earlier work, like Commando or Terminator 1. Last Action Hero is aimed slightly at children. But then again the highly praised Terminator 2 was also much tamer than its original and aimed more towards children.

Those are the two biggest I feel that this movie doesn't earn the respect it should but as far as late Schwarzenegger movies go it is one of his best.

I've always thought this film unfairly found a hard time with critics. An underrated mid-90's action film, Last Action Hero also tries to mix in a bit of action-movie satire with Arnie playing the fictional hero of an action movie franchise.

There are some truly laugh out loud moments in this film. Mix that with some great shoot-outs and you've got a good action-comedy. Think Lethal Weapon aimed more at kids than adults.

not the usual arnie film but still good. this film is more of a kids film but works well and is an original idea.
