I watched this years ago with my parents but couldn't really remember what it was. I bought it because at that price, you can't go wrong. I absolutely love it, haven't stopped watching it since. The cast are brilliant, the effects are amazing and the story of the 101st airborne, easy company is astounding. This even made me purchase the book! Best war series made and I haven't found a person yet who disagrees. Best thing I have ever bought. The Hanks/Speilberg collaberation has really worked and the directors got straight to the heart of it. Just wow.

  excellent

This box set has to be one of the best I have ever come across.
This is a very moving drama based on some of the biggest events of world war 2. It follows the journey of Easy Company through basic training and then their journey across Europe including D day battles and many other epic battles that the brave allied soldiers fought on our behalf.
I'm sure there are some bits in there that are designed or adapted for great drama rather than 100% accuracy but this does not take away from the overall quality of the series.
Each episode starts with a couple of minutes of interviews with some of the genuine survivors of the war who were involved in the real life events depicted in this set.
I am now looking forward to sitting down and watching The Pacific which is the follow up to this amazing series.

Gritty and Emotional Ten-Part Portrayal of WWII

Based on the book by Stephen Ambrose Band of Brothers is a ten-part series following the actions of Easy Company starting with their initial boot camp training in Currahee.

Although the show follows Easy Company into the major battles and events of the European Campaign, each battle is shown from a different perspective to movies such as Saving Private Ryan with D-Day for example seeing the paratroopers land behind enemy lines without most of their weapons and supplies.

Slightly less 'Hollywood' than Saving Private Ryan and featuring some incredible acting performances Band of Brothers is a gritty and emotional portrayal of arguably the darkest time in European History.

I am just working my way through the set with my teenage son and we are loving it. I remember parts of it from the TV ten years ago. The feeling of realism is outstanding and the harshness of war is tangible. As previously said the acting is superb, so much so that for years i thought Damian Lewis was a Yank!!

It's difficult to put the excellence of this TV series into words, it is simply outstanding. Based on the true events of E Company throughout WWII, the battles they were involved in, the casualties they suffered and the mental battles with their own demons of fear, homesickness etc. It's all captured in this amazing series and the acting is superb. Simply a must watch for anyone interested in the events of WWII. A true story of real heroes.

  Awesome
