I Actually Like Jim Carrey In This

Ok so my titles a little cruel, I do actually like him in Truman Show and others just one of those actors you love in some but hate in others. I can relate to this film so much, I'm not going to tell you how cause no point but probably the best film I can relate to. Mostly Barish's (Carreys) thoughts. My faveourite line is the opening scene:

"Random thoughts for Valentine's day, 2004. Today is a holiday invented by greeting card companies to make people feel like crap."

The script to this film is so complex and meaningful, its not just I love you, its an entwined puzzle of reasons why.

Barrish meets Clementine, Clememtine has her mind erased Elijah Woods character gets annoying, Barrish fights for her heart once again. Good twist.

A cinematic masterpiece, not for fans of easy watching films. Requires one well working brain and a heart. With an all star cast you can't really go wrong, if you have seen LOTR like me, Elijah Wood not being two foot tall will annoy you and make it hard for you to be convinced by his character.

This is fantasy at its weirdest and most wonderful. Carrey and Winslet have a relationship which takes the worst turning, with emotional heartache being the result. The struggle to get it all back takes place in Carrey's mind, with most of the film actually being set, told and seen from his mind! This can't be logically explained in words here, I had doubts before watching this film but was astonished by how incredible this romance actually is. The twist in the story, when it hits you, it hits you hard and lets you appreciate the genius of this film.

This film is one of a kind. It has everything - it's a romance, a comedy and a drama all in one. The characters are fantastic and the acting is superb. Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey have completely swapped their typecasted roles. The film has a captivating storyline about the complexities of love, not only seen in the relationship of the two main characters (Winslet and Carrey) but with the other characters too. The film has a great soundtrack by Jon Brion that fits in with both the zany dream-like scenes and the more poignant heart-felt scenes. The film is controversial, unique and eclectic and features amazing "how did they do that?!" camera work. The all-star cast perform so realistically that you actually believe that there is a real Lacuna Inc company that can erase people's memories. If you like original and meaningful films about life and love, this film should definitely be part of your DVD collection. This film will not disappoint you!

Amazing film, Jim Carrey is a revelation!!

Well like i said i believe Jim Carrey is absolutely amazing in this film, i was very sceptical about him being cast in such a serious role alongside Kate Winslet. However i must say i was totally wrong, this film is brilliant and the whole thing is very well thought out and original. The whole story is truely immense and anybody who has been involved in relationship heartbreak will definately be able to associate with this film. It certainly makes you think!!! Dont watch if you have just finished in a long relationship, you will find yourself crying throughout most of it!!!! But still a film of such quality in every sense, casting, soundtrack, direction, storyline. A must see film.....

In Brief - Eternal Sunshine's complexities originate in a world where it is now possible to erase a portion of your life completely from a person's memory. In this case Joel Barrish (Jim Carrey) is suddenly surprised when his long-time girlfriend, Clementine (Kate Winslet) decides to have him and their fanatical relationship erased from her memory
Well..to begin with. Judging from the front cover I bet some of you thought it was a comedy due to the face of Jim Carrey. Well, Its no secret that Jim Carrey is trying to let audiences know that he is more than just a goofy actor, and Eternal Sunshine makes that a reality.
The Film is brilliantly intelligent, intensely written and emotionally mature. It has a great cast which includes the likes of - Elijah Wood, Kirsten Dunst, Tom Wilkinson and David Cross. It's a moving film with terrific performances all round - this is easily one of the best films of the year.
The only time Eternal Sunshine seems to stutter is with its sudden ending, which isn't bad because it is such a huge plot twist, but because it is so sudden the ending seems to be a little too easy and unsatisfying.
Everything said, this movie is certainly worth the view, but don't be surprised if you are a little upset, this film isn't for everyone.
