*Based on a true story, American Splendor is a film about Harvey Pekar. Havey is an everyday bloke. he has a boring job and constantly finds himself frustrated with life. When he meets comic illustrator Robert Crumb, they turn the stories into a comic.
*This is a very clever film. The film has real footage added in of the real people behind the characters. This was a little strange at first but it actually enhances the film. Theres a very touching story with a lot of moments that you can relate to. Above all this film proves that there is drama and humour behind every mundane task. Overall a unique film that is well worth watching.

"Unique" isnt a word that should be used as much as it is but in this case it is justified - a rare glimpse into the surreal world of a comic book writer .

Harvey Pekar is one of the most under-rated comic book writers of our time. He was most active in the late 80's and early 90's and hails from Cleveland, OH, USA. The film stars Paul Giamatti as Pekar and Hope Davis as his wife, Joyce. It's brilliantly done with woven cinematography that resembles actual comic strips. The story is touching and inspiring, documenting important events in Pekar's life, including his battle with cancer. Pekar is a role model for all artists and comic lovers. Watch this film, you won't be disappointed.
