I remember qeuing up around the block to see the first Star Wars movie in the 70's,it was just an unbelievable movie at that time (and that was well before CGI ! lol) The LAST HOPE intoduced us to Luke Skywalker who was destined to be the "last hope"for the Jedi (and the free universe for that matter)THE Empire Strikes Back introduced us to the AT-AT and rose a startling question of Luke's parentage .The Return of the Jedi saw Luke's powers fully develop and answered the question of his fathers fate ,and saw the end of the Empire. A great way to get the first three great films (in terms of production that is)in the STAR WARS saga(which now have the extra footage that Mr Lucas didn't have the budget to include first time around ) p.s for the sake of the person who gave me a bad review ,I did refer to these being the first three films to come out NOT the prequels !

  The Best box set

I dont plan on going into detail on the Star Wars films just give you a brief outline of each one:

Episode IV: A brilliant stand alone film and great introduction to the universe
Episode V: The darkest Star Wars film it really adds layers of depth to the story, which have only been increased with the prequel films
Episode VI: Good fun finale to the series all out action.

The bonus disk to this set, as you would expect from George Lucas, is in depth and detailed. It covers off pretty much any behind the scenes questions you may have relating to the trilogy. All in all the best, current available purchase for any Star Wars fans or people who have never seen these films before.

Probably the best Trilogy in the known universe ever

It took me ages to see what the hype was about and I wasn't disappointed. It would have been nice to see what it was like before it was remastered but in the end I was really happy with the film it is a classic.
It's not very often that trilogy's work (i.e. the other trilogy) but this does. There is everything you want to in a film, forget it's a sci-fi and enjoy the story.

  never tell me the odds!

Possibly the greatest trilogy made.Very rare that a sequel is better than the original but empire strikes back manages it.Return of the jedi is probably the weakest of the trilogy because of the ewoks but still a classic.

  WOW!

Star wars is probably the best saga ever made. No other film that i can think of (at the moment) can rank as high as star wars. I mean a new hope was made in 77, cgi never really existed back then so if it wasnt for star wars, we would have had to wait longer for cgi. Anyway, to the point. Star wars is way ahead of its time the characters are memorable, and it is still big even today, over 30 years later. The effects are amazing the story is amazing and george lucas is amazing. Its a shame that lucas keeps on re - releasing the trilogy again and again, i have got it 4 times so far and i cant be bothered to keep buying the same thing with just different packaging. It is a must have for anyone, sci - fi fan or not. Overall, star wars is, in one word, amazing! I would recommend it to anyone.

Oh my god i love these films i first watched them when i was 5 years old and then was instantly hooked on star wars i've seen each film about 40 times and still love to sit down with mates and watch them all over again so buy this boxset and at the cheap price it's a steal for the best movies of 1977 1980 and 1983 maybe even the best movies of all time 10/10 gotta love em

  I love Star Wars but...

I assume these are the remastered versions? These versions are abominations. I almost threw a TV out of a window when I saw the end of the 'remastered' Jedi with Hayden Christensen with Yoda and Obi-Wan I was so angry. And the 'remastered' Jabba, and any of the animatronics that have been replaced with CG just look awful. No need to tamper with perfection.

For those who may be unaware you can buy these films seperately on play with 'bonus' disks which contain the original versions (as seen in cinema) of the films, the way they should be watched. So I am certainly not giving Star Wars 1 star, the individual original versions all get 5, but I am just fed up with Lucas's pittyful attempts to cash in and I just don't see the point in the new versions.
