Meg Altman is at a crossroads. Suffering through a painful divorce from her husband, pharmaceuticals millionaire Stephen Altman, Meg moves from their suburban home in Greenwich, Connecticut and buys and Upper West Side Manhattan townhouse for herself and her eleven-year-old daughter, Sarah. She intends to go back to school, raise her child and start a new life. But the panic she feels at starting over pales in comparison to her fear and desperation when intruders break into her new home.

Jodie Foster received huge acclaim for this film, and acclaim that is well deserved in my eyes. It all takes place in a house that Foster and daughter recently move in, and the panic that follows after robbers break into their house. Trapped within the confines and in the protection of the so-called 'Panic Room', the cinematics, tense atmosphere throughout and cat-and-mouse chases will hold you until the end.

Upon a first viewing Panic Room is a good, tense thriller.
There are scares, heart-racing thrills and dark comedy to boot.

After the first viewing you can then appreciate the man behind the camera, David Fincher. His epic take as the intruders try to find a way in; the seamless blending of live-action with CGI shots which he experimented with in Fight Club; and of course the dark, brooding story which is now paramount to Fincher's cinema.

In short, a breath-taking piece of cinema whether you just want a good thriller or if you're like me and want to see fantastic cinematography and the vision of a director who's attention to detail make him not only a formidable film-maker, but also one with great integrity in light of today's "make-the-sequel-and-grab-the-cash" attitude to movies.
