Brace yourself for scares aplenty in the spirited sequel to 2007's box office phenomenon, as another family fall prey to ghostly goings-on from a pesky poltergeist determined to make their lives a living hell. A truly 'phantastic' follow-up that is sure to have you jumping out of your skin.

Just as Daniel and Kristi welcome a newborn baby into their home, a demonic presence begins terrorizing them, tearing apart their perfect world and turning it into an inescapable nightmare. Security cameras capture the torment, making every minute horrifyingly real.

Paranormal Activity 2 will haunt you long after its shocking final scene.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

Die hard Gorehounds or specific fans of the torture porn craze ( Hostel etc ) may well find this as about as enthralling as i would watching repeats of any celebrity reality tv show on itv2, but for those who can enjoy any genre of Horror including being chilled by the unseen rather than lashings of blood, guts and the obligatory naked flesh shots will be more than happy to spend 90 minutes in complete silence in a darkened room " waiting for something to happen " and if i may be so bold as to presume so, that kind of thing is just the point when dealing with these kind of films.
Paranormal Activity 2 took what made the first one so good ( the anticipation of waiting for something to happen and when it did BOO! ) and turning it up a notch, which means the silences and the frustration of " nothing is happening " is longer and the scares are bigger and even more nerve rattling when they do happen. It works better too as, your eyes never stop searching the screen for a glimpse of something abnormal.
It's set as a prequel to the first one, and the tie up at the end works chillingly good. Nuff said. Don't want to spoil it.
Chances are, if this had been released in the 70's during the time of The Exorcist it would have enduced palpatations, faintings etc however, with todays society and cinema going audience ( a huge of majority of which approach any form of cinema with a high degree of cynicism ) we are somewhat spoiled, as we simply expect TOO much.
For me, sometimes, the more simple the horror theme, the more effective it is. Less is more?? Gorehounds can keep the over-rated SAW franchise ( the first one, was admittedly a terrific & intelligent thriller ) for me, a film that plucks at my nerves rather than my stomach is far more effective in every way.
I didn't need the lights on after watching SAW or Hostel, but i sure did after watching this, and that for me, is the mark of a true horror film.

NOT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST.....

Overall good film, they concerntrated to much on how to make the two storys relate, the ending was a bit of a dissapointment leaving it likely for a third installment. Done in a different way on a lower budget i didnt think it had the same effect, it was scarier when you didnt know what was going on and why it was after her. the "demonic attacks" felt very different in the way they were with katie and then katies sister. the plots been done before but i liked the fact it was backwards...this felt like it should of come first but still a good watch.

 better than the original....

i saw this the night before release at the cinema with 10 other people, and we were all hiding behind our jackets. absolutely fantastic and the tension is almost unbearable at points, much better lead up and more action than the original, love the idea of the two movies intervening and a fantastic ending. and for the review before me, different actors for Micah and Katie? ummmm im pretty sure if you look on imdb its the same actor and actress....

 Awful

I hate to give any movie a rating this low but this truly was a dull and utterly boring movie. The first had some appeal but apart from two jumpy moments in an hour and 38 minutes, this one was literally like watching a mundane home movie. Not only is this a very poor film, it would in fact even make a very tedious home video. If you like this then maybe you ought to get a job watching carpark CCTV for a living.
