Review

'Audition' is an eerie tale of a man (Ryo Ishibashi) who, in his search for a new wife at the insistence of his son, holds an audition for potential mates. He disguises his actual intentions by saying that the audition is for an actress to star in a new movie that he is making. When at last he finds the perfect woman (the model Eihi Shiina), she disappears, leaving a bizarre trail of gruesome murders in her path...

This collector's edition of 'Audition' features specially prepared new surround audio tracks, a new anamorphic transfer and newly created subtitles.

for an hour this nice, sedate film takes you on a gentle journey into one mans dream of finding a wife 7 years after his died.using the premise of a film audition,he narrows down his chosen one till only the beautiful, shy but mysterious young girl enters his world.you will need a strong resolve, nerves of steel and a strong stomach as the young lady reveals herself to be deranged and more psychotic than you would care for.a real shocker and a really good scare.

Those who have scene Ichi The Killer will know the violence in Takashi Miike's films sees no bounds - that film has blood and guts galore and limbs fall off in every scene. Audition however, shows the other side to Miike's film making, for while this film has plenty of gore, the emphasis is not on the blood, but on the creepy, disturbing and chilling atmosphere it creates.

For the first hour the film plays like a romantic movie, then you are plunged into a dark and disturbing world of nightmares. There are moments that will make even the most harderned horror fan jump out of his seat and squirm, and by the end you feel like you've gone through as much as the poor man in this movie.

A masterpiece of extreme cinema, if you're new to Asian horror films this is the place to start. And if you just want a film to shock you like you've never been shocked before, then look no further.

This is Takashi Miike's most known film, its considered as one of the great world/Asia extreme movies. The story is deep but not too complex, you're always asking yourself whats going to happen next, and sometimes even what exactly is going on. It's a movie that'll definitely keep you entertained for the whole 115 minutes. If you love Japanese cinema or general Asian cinema this movie could very well suit you, but it's mainly a movie for Asia Extreme fans. This movie is not for the squeamish, there are some scenes of violence and torture but believe me they are necessary to the story, unlike a lot of the Asia Extreme movies out there. This is truly a great movie, you will certainly not be disappointed by the gripping storyline and the amazing visual look.
This movie is a journey which you won't want to get off, everything comes together nicely but it still leaves you at the end with a couple of questions which you want to figure out the answer to. Buy this movie, its a masterpiece!
