The peaceful resort town of Amity, Massachusetts has always depended upon its thriving summer tourist trade to get it through the lean winter months ahead. But when a swimmer is killed by a great white shark, Sheriff Brody faces great opposition when he proposes to close the beaches, right before the 4th of July holiday weekend...

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

This is Spielberg's finest film to date...Raiders of the lost Ark coming a very close second...I hear people moan about the shark looking fake but you dont really see it till the end of the film and it was 1975 so special effects wern't exactly what there are today which some people forget , although it could have done without the shark leaping out of the water on to the boat which did look bad but aside that ten second blip in the film its just an awsome bit of film making and is a joy to watch 33 years on.

 5 Star Release

Having already reviewed the 30th Anniversary DVD of Jaws, I briefly glanced at the reviews for this superior first Special Edition.

What I was confronted with were comparisons to the trashy Deep Blue Sea, comments about the shark having no presence, and generally underwhelming reviews by questionable critics - Jaws is a 5 Star movie, the shark is a 5 star monster, and this DVD is a 5 Star release as well. I wouldn't usually review a film more than once (particularly on the same website), but in this case it's more of a review of the DVD Edition.

Whatever region you buy this on (region 1 DTS version has a metallic cover - for those that care), Jaws is a more satisfying experience for fans with this 25th Anniversary Edition. Why is this? Check out my review for the 30th Anniversary Edition - you'll find out.

Jaws is a jewel of a movie - a must for every film fan. Note - pick up the book as well, it's a brilliant read and contains enough differences and descriptions to make a fine companion piece to the movie.

I Ain't Going Swimming Any Time Soon

The idea is relatively simple but is pulled off in fantastic fashion by Spielberg. Every character has likable qualities when on the screen, apart from the shark. Without seeing the shark itself for over half the film, the suspense is intense and makes for a great film. Jaws will never age, but has been sort of ruined by needless sequels, well worth 2 hours of your time and at £5 is an absolute snip.

Scared the pants off me in its heyday but its still a great film, the shark isnt up to much by todays standards but its the camaraderie on the boat that steals the show for me,superb...
