Ok not really a new standard cos ross has been around for years but when i saw him on 'live at the apollo' earlier this year for the first time ever i bought the dvd staright away even though it was a fairly short act. I wasn't disappointed and this amazing dvd only cemented my suspicions that he is possibly the funniest stand up i've ever seen. The word 'randomist' even perfectly describes his stand up style as he jumps from one abstract, ridiculous notion to the next but with such fluidity that you rarely notice that he's "...gone off on a tangent...". Maybe it's just the accent but for me the shows also have echoes of the brilliant style of reeves and mortimer but without all the weird bits that you used to just laugh at because everyone else was laughing. That's the best i can do to describe him because the material is also very unpredictable but just as hilarious. Even the documentary style extras of ross on tour are very entertaining. I've since bought two more of his dvds and there is little or no repetition of the material on any of them. What more can i say except that if you're fed up of sitting around watching the comedy channels and being only mildly amused like i was, then support this guy and laugh your ass off at the same time. Also, at a time when every jackass in the country is bringing out his dvd for christmas, this is one that i think you'll want to watch again and again.
P.s. No i'm not ross noble, i never even met the chap. I'm just very glad that someone finally stood up for stand up and showed 'em how it's done!
