Can they be stopped?

Five friends are enjoying dinner on their first evening at a ramshackle but cosy enough log cabin in the Tennesee Forest when all of a sudden in the next room - BANG! The friends find that the trapdoor to the cellar has mysteriously opened. Peering into the cold, bleak and pitch black void, they dare each other to investigate. Scotty braves the ricketty stairs first and disappears without a sound.
When after a few minutes Scotty doesn't answer his friends' calls, Ash follows. There's no sign of him in the gloom, and something screeches at Ash. Phew! It's only Scotty, pulling his leg. Scotty leads Ash to a dim corner of the cellar, where a sinister pile of possessions of the former owner begs to be examined. There's a long dagger - it's hilt carved into skulls, an audio tape, and a small but gruesome book, bound in human flesh and inked in blood...

Back upstairs, Sheryl protests in vain when Scotty plays the tape. The voice of the previous occupant of the shack, explains the significance of the Necronomicon (The Book of the Dead) and the dagger of the dead. The eerie voice proceeds to read the text of the book - a deadly incantation with horrific consequences...

How to make a Horror film on a low budget

Sam Raimi brings you Evil Dead.
A small group of people decide to a break in a cabin deep in the woods. They then find a recording of a old chant which unwittingly brings back the undead and all hell breaks loose.
A very gory film with some great shocks keeps you absorbed until the very end.
A note for any film maker with a low budget "This is how its done"

 Shockingly good!

If ever there was a game that justified it's 18 certificate, this is it. So much blood and stomach churning gore doesn't necessarily make a good film but mixed with a great story and terrifying moments, this is petrifying. A real bargain and worth every penny. Not sure which movie the last reviewer was watching by the way. Take it from me, Highly Recommended.

Its bad!!! but thats why I love it, Classic Film!!!!

I think the problem here is that Play are selling this movie as a Horror and/or people are expecting a horror. Although it is a "horror" the Evil Dead series get funnier in the later DVD's. This Movie is not to be taken seriously as a horror as it is a "Horror Comedy". Its cheesy storyline, poor acting and poor VFX are what led the makers to make them funnier in the later ones. Its just unfortunate that the first one sucked so bad that people thought it was funny!... thats my positive view on this movie.

B-Rate movie but its a cult classic

This is one of the most famous/infamous amatuer movies of all time. Its cheesey and basically rubbish, but its a rubbish you want to watch over and over again. The acting, the filming and generally everything about this movie is quite poor....but its still great. This movie is one of the most import in American horror history, its a benchmark despite the poorness.
It's a must see.
