Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars Not as good as the original

If you're lucky enough to own the original on VHS then you will realise this is not as good. It seems like it's been re-edited by some kid in his bedroom. Many extra scenes make Jason look like a wimp. However, it's worth buying to see other extra scenes that weren't in the VHS such as Jason's dad in the hospital and the superb scene where Scott is chasing RJ on his skateboard. The other main reason to buy is to have a big laugh at the new voice of Bruce Lee, it's hilarious! The picture transfer is good but the new soundtrack is a joke. If you liked the original, then you have to buy this at this price! I would have given it a 5 if the soundtrack was the same and if the cover had Jason on it instead of Van Damme who is in the film for less than 5 mins.

I love this film, yes the storyline is rediculous and the budget was very low, but the action's great. Van Damme is awesome in this, even though he is only featured at the beginning and the end. Maybe it's because I saw it numerous times when I was young but it's a martial arts classic as far as I'm concerned. By the by, if you love this film like I do then do NOT buy the 'No Retreat, No Surrender' 1,2,3 set as the film along with its soundtrack has been re-edited and they've done a horrible job and completely ruined it.

The first time i saw Van damme was in this movie as a youngster & didnt realise it was van damme till years later. On rewatching this its very cheap, very bad acting but so much cheesy 80's fun. Basic story is a young kid moves to a new home & to help fight local bullys gets trained by the ghost of bruce lee, See told you it was cheesy! Van Damme only appears at the start & the end of the film but steels it as Ivan the Russian. Give it a go , what have you got to lose, oh yeah some of the action is quite good.
