Based on the true life best seller 'Wiseguy' by Nicholas Pileggi and backed by a dynamic pop/rock oldies soundtrack was named 1990's best film by the New York, Los Angeles and National Society of Film Critics. And it earned six Academy Award Nominations.

Robert De Niro received wide recognition for his performance as veteran criminal Jimmy "The Gent" Conway. And as the volatile Tommy DeVito, Joe Pesci walked off with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, Academy Award nominee Lorraine Bracco, Ray Liotta and Paul Sorvino also turned in electrifying performances. You have to see it to believe it.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

Dont usually like ganster films but this is just sheer class from start to end. Top notch acting all round , great soundtrack and beautifuly directed by Scorseses which is undoubtedly his best work....tried to recapture this again with Casino which is not bad by any means just not in the same class.

one of the best films you will ever see............

This is easily the best Modster/Gangster/Mafia film to be made. No, it didn't win the Oscar, but Kevin Costner's original 'Dances With Wolves' is pretty awesome too. Goodfellas moves on quicker than the Godfather, making it more appealling to the less patient of us.

All the actors give great performances here, and Pesci and Liotta give the performances of thier careers - whilst De Niro at his brillaint best. There's a moment in the film when De Niro stares at the camera, brooding. My parents went 'How brilliant an actor...' My brother said 'How? He said nothing.' I simple replied 'He doesn't have to.'

Watch this film, the rise and fall of Henry Hill is brilliantly portrayed. I wanted more - a brilliant proof of Scorsese's excellence.
