With a low budget, unknown cast, and little fanfair or promotion, its a shame that this film will remain unknown to many as its actually pretty enjoyable. Its about a group of friends who go out on a small plane for a little trip and find themselves up against supernatural forces that seem to want to kill them all by making the plane rise higher and higher as the fuel runs out, before a stranfe tentacled creature stalking them in the skies makes its presence known. Set mostly on board the plane for the entire duration of the film, it never feels short on ideas, and moves along pretty swiftly although you have to give the film around 40mins before it ramps up the tension. The effects are good as is the sound mix, and the acting from the lead in particular is quite effective. After reading some bad reviews of the film i can only conclude they must have watched another movie for Altitude is an enjoyable blend of thriller and horror. Yes its a little predictable as most horror films are, but for all its faults inc an ending that's a little contrived, its a good movie and I am glad that i got a chance to see it.
A group of friends take to the sky in a small jet. Two of the group are haunted by previous experiences related to flying. The plane starts to encounter problems and rises higher and higher. Altitude only has a few characters and is only around 80 minutes long. The plot 'seems' fairly simple so this makes the ideal film if you want something to watch with a few friends. Altitude mixes a number of genres including Action, Thriller and Horror. Altitude will have out on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you have sussed out the plot the film takes a twist. Reminded me a little of Cloverfield and then Donnie Darco. Well worth a watch.
"We'll be out of fuel in less than an hour." - "What are you saying?".
"The controls don't respond!" - "What do you mean?".
A cast with overacting eyebrows who constantly ask annoying questions like these in response to almost every statement made me indifferent to anything that happened to them in this Twilight Zone ripoff. Especially when the pilot does anything but pilot the plane. When she's in the pilots seat she's not even looking in front of her or she's handing over controls to anyone nearby at the time. Predictable storyline, second rate effects with a vomit enducing ending. Apparantly it took two years to make! More time should've been spent on the script. Don't bother.
