Still grieving the death of their only child, Alice, a young couple relocate to the remote town of Wake Wood where they stumble on a group of villagers practising Pagan rituals. They soon learn that this ritual has the power to bring back the dead, and would allow them three days with their beloved daughter.

When terms are agreed with the sinister village leader Spall, far bigger questions begin to loom... what will they do when it's time for Alice to go back? Will she go back peacefully? Or are there more sinister forces at work?

 Hammer Lives!

This is a wonderful example of old school Hammer horror in contemporary Ireland. It's got everything you need, Dark, Creepy, genuinely scary, and Timothy Spall - What more can you ask for?

 Very good, but.......

...that depends on your expectations. It is not a horror film compared to what passes for a horror film these days, that is to say, there isnt much action, and while there is some pretty gory bits, they are relatively scarce. But it is spooky, creepy and has atmosphere by the bucketload, and of course, the brilliant timothy spall is in it. Yes, it does start off a bit slow, but it draws you in and immerses you in the story, as oposed to bombarding you with blood and guts at the expense of a decent story. If that sounds like a good trade off to you, you definately should give this a go, and it is getting cheap!. With the best will in the world, i couldnt really give this 5 stars, but its worth a solid 4 no sweat.

I live in the village the movie was shot in Pettigo Co. Donegal. I watched it thinking i would see lots of local extras but within 5mins i got so engrossed in the scare factor i forgot i might see someone i knew int the background!. There is a lot of blood and gore and plenty of scare "jump" in your seat scenes but you do feel for the couple and the pain they feel at loss of their daughter. It is believable.

Ok, but a bit strange for me.......

I found this an OK film, and read the write up and really looked forward to it.......but i did find it a bit of a strange/wierd film. Maybe its because i dont really understand the whole pagan thing, i dont know, i just cant put my finger on it.

A movie to see when the price comes down, but wouldn't pay full whack for it - ok but not a great for me i'm afraid, 3/5.

future classic...not too sure about that

This is an irish/british film made on a low budget. The story line is quite a clever and errie idea, but the film fails (not completely) on a few levels. The story jumps about and there are some severe plot holes in the narration. It makes you wonder how casually the mother/father figure take on board what the villagers are doing. Yet another horror that will stay on the dusty shelves of my collection.
