  A Gem of a Movie!

It takes an exceptional movie to move me to bother with offering a review and this is just such an exception. How or why this avoided critical aclaim is beyond me. This is truly a thoroughly enjoyable, stylish, well made, and satisfying movie combining exceptional acting talent with a quirky story line and engaging characters delivering a gripping, action packed, and often humourous tale of a samurai warrior (with "the body of an assasin and the heart of a priest") finding himself in the wild west fighting for his survival and that of his fellow townsfolk in the face of their respective enemies. Do yourself a huge favour and just buy this. It is simply not to be missed.

  Really!

its not that good a film! On the basis of being a martial arts film, its poor. not sure if its meant to be serious or a comedy but just put it down to terrible casting and move on.

The mix of east meets west meets 300 is something unique to this film. I really enjoyed the storyline and action/fight sequences. It has everything needed for a night in with your popcorn.

A sort of oriental Clint Eastwood ?

After killing the last swordsman of his rival clan, Yang (the greatest swordsman in the world) has one more person to slay to wipe out his enemy for good, a baby girl ! He takes the baby and flees putting him on the top of his own clans death list ,he escapes to western America and is taken in by a circus troupe who have their own problems ahead of them . . .

I love this movie,in this day and age of big budget rubbish,it is refreshing to see a film that combines martial art, western, suspense and love obviously not made on a huge budget but none the less Brilliantly acted, expertly directed and with a story that keeps hold of you til the very end.An wonderful movie to escape into for ninety minutes.Shame it seemed to slip under the radar.

  stylish swordplay

very much enjoyed this film, an oriental swordsman flees to american wild west with a child he was meant to kill, persued by his own clan, he finds himself living in a broken down town with some wonderfully wierd characters from a circus, together they must fight off danny hustons private army and the mystical swordsmen sent to get our hero.decent shift by the cast and very stylish fight scenes which are fairly violent to boot. if its got a fault its that danny huston and geoffrey rush,s characters dont get enough screen time, good film worth a watch.

had the displeasure of seeing this at the Cinema. 1 word to describe this " terrible ". the story line would appear borrowed from a Spaghetti Western or was it Pale Rider. I found my self longing for the end.
