 Far from Argento's best.......

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

I have just watched the Unrated region 1 of this. The dvd transfer on this USA widescreen release looks pretty muddy, especially the night scenes, hopefully the region 2 UK release will fair better. There are no extras on the region 1, not even a trailer.
Now to the film itself, I have always been a keen admirer of Argento's work since being mesmerised by Tenebrae.I would say that Argento's era was the 70's and 80's as most of his later works with the exception of the masters of horror episodes have been hit and miss.Chain smoking Adrian Brody plays a detective who has issues with his past, he seems very inept as a detective and just looks moody through-out.Emmanuelle Seigner gives her role her all as she heps Broody look for her abducted sister..The film drifts at a snails pace and even the gore was very subdued, i expected alot more for an unrated version but the camera pans away at any hint if real violence.Worth a watch but not one to go back to by any means.Just average im afraid.

i like adrien brody, i seen him in other films including king kong and i quite like him, but this film is faaaaar from his best. I saw the trailor on the Xbox360 and it looked really good, so i ordered it, it starts out poor and you think it'll pick up soon surely, but unfortunately....it doesn't. The acting is awful, the music is like something from the 1970's, just makes it an all round bad atmosphere. 1 scene a woman gets her finger cut off, then she breaks free, runs down the corridor, falls over then crawls along the floor, "theres nothing wrong with your legs its your finger". Just a really poor film in my eyes. 2 Stars because the story is half decent, but the acting is awwwwwfulllll!
