Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares.

Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king's hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man's conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion...until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope. Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes...

This is a very awesome film, non stop action from start to finish, if you loved films like clash of the titans and especially 300 then this is certainly for you, great story thats fast paced with blood and guts and plenty of quality action scenes, the fight scenes are awesomely epic especially between the gods and the titans, top notch special effects and plenty of arty cool slow motion scenes! This is the perfect movie all round for fun and a good thrill ride, great cast, a must see.

 Not as good as 300

If you enjoyed 300 then you will enjoy this, could have done with a few more fight scenes but it is still very good.

But mostly it's just another ordinary romp through some (rewritten) history and mythology as director Tarsem seeks to fashion something more out of the usual elements.

As the dangerous King Hyperion roams across the land seeking the one instrument which will allow him to free the Titans from their Earthly prison, the Gods of Olympus look down from above and wonder whether to intervene or not. Meanwhile, the young Theseus (Henry Cavill) may just prove to have the mettle needed (with the help of a few people) to save the day.

With oddly muddy visuals, only a so-so script and performances that never quite come to life this ended up being a surprisingly dull film that never really roars into being and plods along with a set-piece battle every now and then to try and revive interest. Which most of the time for me, it didn't.

The new Man of Steel and star of The Tudors Henry Cavill shows true star power as the Zeus blooded peasant battleing to stop King Mickey Rourke enslaving mythical ancient Greece. His muscular torso is better carved than the script, but it's the jaw dropping visuals and imagination that that takes hold of you, with it's abundant decapitations and even a sledge hammer vasectomy, Gods plunging from the heavens and an amazing brawl between Olypians and Titans keep the attention whilst some talky bits creep in, as you know some more cool stuff is about to happen.
Immortals may be camper than a Petshop Boys, Erasure, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Man II Man meets Man Parish reunion, a bit self important and a perfect example of style over substance but at least it has the common sense to take it's own silliness seriously.
See if you like.....
300.
Clash of the Titans (1981 / 2010)
Wrath of the Titans (2012)
