A collection of three of acclaimed writer/director Stephen Poliakoff's greatest works in one lavish box set.
Caught On A Train Oscar-winning actress Dame Peggy Ashcroft stars as an enigmatic elderly Austrian woman travelling across Europe by train. Over the course of one overnight journey, she has a profound and unsettling influence on the young Englishman who is her fellow passenger...
Originally broadcast in 1980, 'Caught On A Train' was inspired by a journey Stephen Poliakoff made form London to Vienna as a young man of 25. The drama has endured as one of his most popular works. It is by turns both nightmarish and deeply moving.
Shooting The Past A country house situated in the London suburbs holds a collection of photography dating back through the last century. Plans have been raised to divide the collection and turn the house into a business school....
A three-part drama written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff about the battle to save a vast photographic library. A US property developer finds the library employees still ensconced in a London building he's come to renovate. After unsuccessfully trying to sell the pictures to an advertising agency Marilyn makes a personal plea to Anderson. Meanwhile, Oswald begins an investigation into Anderson after seeing a picture of his mother in the library.
Perfect Strangers When Daniel attends an extraordinary family reunion with his parents, he discovers a world he hardly knew existed. Before long Daniel finds that his skills as a surveyor can be used in surprising ways. However, when Daniel adopts the role of go-between for his glamorous Aunt Alice and dazzling cousins Rebecca and Charles, his honourable intentions have the potential to go disastrously wrong.
