A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, Real Steel, stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goya) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

This movie may actually surprise you, its not bad, it may appear like a transformers rip off but its not at all, its still got big robots punching the hell out of each other but in a more rocky kind of way, the movie has a good story a very warm hearted tale of father bonding with son, its a little predictable right from the start but its worth sticking with because it has great fight scenes, great looking effects and robots and by the end its pretty satisfying overall, worth a watch for an exciting family afternoon with the popcorn.

Ok, a lot of people have mentioned Rocky already, so if you want, you could say that this movie is a cross between the original and excellent Rocky, and the family car crash that was Rocky 5. People have also mentioned transformers, to which I do not think that is fair, just because their are robots in it, they do not transform, so this is an unfair comparison. Personally one film that no one has mentioned is A.I and Real Steel is also on a lower par to this movie. A must see movie for all of the family, it has action, romance, family values. All in all you probaly have seen this genre before, but it does one hell of a job and the special effects are excellent.

A top standard futuristic movie, which is highly enjoyable for all ages. Ral Steel brings fighting movies to a whole new level of family entertainment. Art from being very exciting and unpredictable, it is also very warming and easy to watch. It shows a high concept of thought and intelligence to make a film like this, I would certainly recommend for fans of fighting and robots, this brings both to a whole new level. Absolutely brilliant.

From the Director of Night at the museum comes this sci-fi/ drama.
But don't turn away in horror as it's actually a fantastic family movie that comes across as a giddy hybrid of all the Rocky movies, Transformers and that game you used to play as a kid with plastic robot boxers fisting each other until their head pops up!
The movie has added weight with an excellent performance from Jackman, but it the fantastic and seamless CGI with actuall anamatronic Robots that give the film a very real world. The plots the same as any other boxing film, but when the fights hit the screen it's impossible not to be swept along with it all and by the final round you'll be hard set not to be cheering all the way to the rousing if obvious ending.
OK so if you strip away the Robots this is nothing new, but for the great acting and the novelty value of the robots Real Steel is a brilliant sci-fi drama that the whole family can enjoy.
See if you like.....
Transformers Trilogy.
Rocky 1-6
