The first Hellraiser is a horror classic, really nightmarish and frightening, the second just as good but probably more gory and horrific and the third is alright though every performance is naff apart from Pinhead, Hellraiser 3 is good because there's a lot of Pinhead and his scenes and lines are awesome, overall a must for horror fans.
We have such sights to show you!!!

The hellraiser franchise to me is one of the most iconic and original in the genre of horror. Clive Barker was a visionary writer and director for the first film.
Hellraiser: It is mostly just as Clive himself has said "a haunted house movie" where most of the film takes places with in the old house. This film is very actor driven possibly due to the lack of funding for specail effects, the main characters are: Julia, Kirsty, Frank and Kirsty's father whose name I have forgotten as he isnt really that much of an important character.
The house belonged to Franks and his brothers parents, which after Frank "disappears" his brother inherts, bringing Julia on the scene and kirsty. Frank needs human blood in order to be brought back to life and Julia willing provides them for him, so they can ressume thier affair. Over the course of the film you are introduced to the cenobites, a group of demons who take pleasure in the suffering of people follish enough to open the box. Trully unique, and has some of the most of effective use of sfx that i have seen even today with cgi.
Hellbound: The sequel of the classic, much bigger budget as well as a good solid foundation to build from. Most of the original cast is back. Again Julia, Frank and Kirsty as well as cenobites with Iconic Pinhead. This time we find that there is not on box but several that can unlock the gates of hell. The original thing of this is that, in most films hell is as desolate place, full of fire, in clives incarnation we se hell as an endless maze of which to lose your soul. In this outing clive as taken the role of writer an producer, letting Tony Randel direct. In this film we also find that the cenobites are not demons but that they were once humans, who have become dellusioned in hell and have taken on the role of tormerntors. All in all quite a good film, with a good lot of blood.
Hell on Earth: At the end of the last film we, saw pinhead being killed by a new cenobite, however an evil like his can not be killed so easily and this film, we see a darker pinhead who is not bound by "the commandments of hell" such as he can only get to you via the box, and only if you have the desire. An the trully innocent can not be harmed. However this film was not written by Clive, in the original film that clive written as the thrid film was to be set in egypt were the pyramid, was mean to act as the first lament configuration. Although this is not as good as the first two films, it is quite a good film and worth a watch.
NO TEARS PLEASE ITS A WASTE OF GOOD SUFFERING!

Ive always been a big fan of the Hellraiser films and already owned them all on DVD. But, as soon as I saw this box I had to buy it. With the full uncut versions of all the films and a massive selection of special features you just cant go wrong. And, as a little special treat they have included some of Clive Barkers early student films. These are very interesting, but be warned....you get to see a little too much of Clive (if you know what I mean?)! All in all a great buy for any fan of the series.
It will tear your soul apart...

Anchor Bay deliver yet ANOTHER fantastic boxset with this 4 disc Hellraiser set. Exquisitely packaged to resemble the famous Lament Configuration box from the franchise the films, with commentaries and added extras are a riot even if, by the end of the third one, you may feel the steam has run out. Ignore all the subsequent sequels and just stick to these three and you're sure to be entertained. The fourth disc, with some Clive Barker short films just adds to the appeal. Plus, it'll look cool on your shelf...
