Fin McBride (Dinklage), a loner with a passion for trains, inherits an abandoned train station in the middle of nowhere - a place that suits him just fine because all he wants is to be alone. Soon after moving in, he discovers his isolated depot is more like Grand Central Station! There's Olivia (Clarkson), a distracted and troubled artist, and Joe (Cannavale), a friendly Cuban with an insatiable hunger for conversation. With absolutely nothing in common, they find their isolated lives coming together in a friendship none of them could foresee...
Winner of three awards at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, 'The Station Agent' also scooped a BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay.

Peter Dinklage is a fine actor and he leads this great cast with ease.
The movie is complex and deals with duality and contradiction in a wonderfully simple way to see. A real gem and not to be over looked.
Dwarves retire early. Common fact.

I caught this film on telly not long back, and had to buy it. Mainly because I realised the subtlety of the script could not be appreciated at first viewing. Okay, so it's not the deepest film you'll ever watch, but that's a good thing. On the other hand it's not sentimental schmalz . It is a genuine insight into everyone's differences, be it emotional, physical or just what makes each of us unique. Trust me, this will be a fiver well spent.
what a gem!

couldn't find anything else to watch when the BBC screened this,so i thought 'what the hell',and recorded it as i thought it might be interesting, and i'm so glad i did! a simple storyline, great quirky characters who are all so different, but become great friends.this is a wonderful, uplifting feelgood film that is so much better than some of the dross masquerading as entertainment these days.it only lasts an hour and a half, but it leaves you wanting much more.that for me is the sign of a great film, and for £5.99 i will be adding it to my collection, and i recommend anyone to do the same.
