Dwarves retire early. Common fact.

I caught this film on telly not long back, and had to buy it. Mainly because I realised the subtlety of the script could not be appreciated at first viewing. Okay, so it's not the deepest film you'll ever watch, but that's a good thing. On the other hand it's not sentimental schmalz . It is a genuine insight into everyone's differences, be it emotional, physical or just what makes each of us unique. Trust me, this will be a fiver well spent.
what a gem!

couldn't find anything else to watch when the BBC screened this,so i thought 'what the hell',and recorded it as i thought it might be interesting, and i'm so glad i did! a simple storyline, great quirky characters who are all so different, but become great friends.this is a wonderful, uplifting feelgood film that is so much better than some of the dross masquerading as entertainment these days.it only lasts an hour and a half, but it leaves you wanting much more.that for me is the sign of a great film, and for £5.99 i will be adding it to my collection, and i recommend anyone to do the same.
Low Budget movie - Excellent Movie!

Just watched this on BBC1 and as I watched it, it became very interesting, Fin who is a dwarf is a man of not so many words, but Olivia and Joe play their parts well. This is a film that grows on you as you watch it, excellent acting and the film just draws you in. To be perfectly honest this is not the type of film I'd watch, but a film I'd recommend to those who wish to take a chance of a touching and warm film that brings friendship where you just wouldn't have expected it.

This charming film deals with Universal themes, friendship, empathy and affirmation. Fin McBride
(Peter Dinklage) inherits a Station Agents abode, hoping for isolation to perfect his world view. However he runs into Olivia (Patricia Clarkson), an Artist with emotional issues, including the death of her Son, as well as Hot Dog / Coffee vendor, Joe ( Bobby Cannavale), a Cuban with miraculous joyfulness and innate need to converse. Each person benefits from each other, to essentially become fuller people.
It would be wrong to tell you more of the plot, the delight is connecting with the characters yourselves. Why aren't more movies like this ? Simplicity is its own reward
A delightful gem of oddity....

I brought this film a year ago on a blind punt and soon discovered a heart warming tale that really blew me away. While a large number of movies are released under a barage of action/special effects publicity, the station agent really comes back to basics and, for that reason, delivers something really special. Just allow yourself to sink into the lives of the 3 main characters as they each endure their own personal woes, that help feed the development of an unusal but essential friendship!
OH WOW!

Buy this film! If you love small, odd and thoughtful movies, 'The Station Agent' is for you. You will watch thinking 'what the heck have I done', but by the end of this movie you will be smiling and content having had an insight into the beautiful oddity of life and movie making to boot! Just try it, and then I recommend 'Sideways', 'Tideland' and 'Bagdad Cafe'. Enjoy the world of 'small' movies. They blow the box office hits out of the water!!!

If Play.com keep the price so cheap, you shouldn't even think twice, buy this brilliant film now. If you love films like Sideways, Little Miss Sunshine and Swingers, this is the film for you. It's not trying to impress you, it simply is being what it is. A wonderful little story, a snapshot of 3 characters lives. An unusual cocktail of characters which will leave you feelin' touched, amused and feelin' good inside. Perfect film to watch on a midweek night around 9pm when there's nothing on the telly and you think it's too late to put on a film - well it's not, this film is less than 90 minutes and a great watch before lights out!
a gem

This is one of those movies I picked up after reading some positive reviews and quite liking the trailer.
In no way did I think I'd enjiy it the way I did.
It's a small movie, it's simple yet it has more substance than a lot of todays "blockbusters".
Highly recommended.
A slice-of-life diamond

If you loved movies like Garden state, Trees lounge, What's eating Gilbert Grape, Smoke, or even Sideways, then Station agent is definitively for you. It's a slice-of-life film about three different people with their joys and struggles. The plot becomes secondary to the main characters and the sharp dialogue. Overall Station agent is a true feel-good-movie, a hidden diamond that craves for being discovered.
