A romantic comedy. With zombies!

Shaun (Simon Pegg) is not quite your average twentysomething. Lacking any real ambition and drifting along in a job that he hates, he drives his long-suffering girlfriend Liz (Kate Ashfield), up the wall. Despite being a very decent chap, Shaun suddenly gets a very rude wake up call when the undead begin roaming the earth (or London's Crouch End, at least) and, with the help of his slacker chum, Ed (Nick Frost), he must save Liz and his dear mum from becoming zombies! Well, that's if he can get out of the local pub...

Never has the mixture of comedy and horror worked so brilliantly in a film since probably the Evil Dead. Simon Pegg stars as the 30-something Shaun who has no ambitions in life, is hitting a rough spot with his relationship with his girlfriend Liz (played amiably well by the gorgeous Kate Ashfield) and lives with his slacker friend Ed (Nick Frost) who enjoys playing video games and going down the pub. His life is suddenly turned upside down when zombies start appearing and it's up to him and Ed to save his girlfriend, his dear mum and the day before going for a pint in the pub...I absolutely love this film; it's got a wonderful cast with a perfect performance from Lucy Davis (famously known from BBC 2's The Office), gruesome action from decapitations, disembowelling and more, and has a great sense of British humour about it that it'll probably leave you needing a fresh pair of boxers!

A great film with a good cast. There are some real 'laugh out loud' moments throughout and it is entertaining from start to finish.

I managed to pick this up for £2,99 and you can't argue with that price!

Recommended.
