This is an interesting film and i brought this because i am a huge fan of the series and wished to get them all on DVD. I watched this with an open mind as i do with all films i watch i have to admit that i was slightly disappointed, it was so different from what we had already seen. The biggest change is of course the fact that Kirsty is no longer the main character. This is not too much of a problem because i suppose it would get old after a while, but the story that is started in the first two is continued as pinhead returns in the third instalment of the series.

One of the other huge differences is the fact that the stage for this film is huge, as you all know the first one was very confined as it was mostly set in a house, given it a claustrophobic feel and a sense of no escape. The second one opened up a bit more as we got to see Hell, but this one is all over the place. I was not too enthusiastic about that, i felt that it had changed quite a bit.

The story line for this film is quiet a good one, i like the idea of Pin Head's good and evil side being separated and the fact that he is free on Earth to reek havoc as he sees fit. The cenobytes in this film i thought were very disappointing because they seemed more like cyborgs, but Clive Barker himself has said that a cenobye can be anything your imagination can think up, but i prefer the original ones from the first two films.

The soundtrack to this film is quite a good one, the best so far, as there is some nice metal tracks espechially in The Boiler Room scenes.

The acting is rather nice, but there is only one character from the past two films that is still in it, Pin Head of course.

I kept thinking about the film after i had watched it, and how disappointed it was, but the more i thought about it the more i understood that the Hellraiser universe needed to expand, you can't keep it all contain in the Lament Configuration forever.

I strongly recommend that this film is watched by fans of the film, if you do not like Hellraiser an awful lot then i would suggest giving this one a miss. True Hellraiser fans should enjoy it. I just hope that number four is entertaining.

This movie whilst nowhere near as good as the first, is slightly better than part 2 ( Hellbound ). Although the acting is just as bad, if not slightly worse. The film does move allot faster, thanks to the direction of Anthony (Waxworks ) Hickox. The statue of Pinhead at the end of Hellbound is bought by a rich brat nightclub owner. Once blood is splilled on it, the statue takes life and clames it's first victim. This raises Pinhead. But the human side that was shown in Hellbound is long dead. What you get is a more evil Pinhead, as he recruits new Cenobites. The films major flaw, apart from the shambolic acting, is trying to turn Pinhead into a Freddy competitor. This never works as Pinhead in the first and second movie was a much different beast. But the film is well directed and never dull. The make-up effects, as you would expect are just as good and as gory as the previouse movies. This is a worthy sequel to the original, but nowhere near as well written or intelligent.
