Review

Grosse Pointe Blank is the witty, dark comedy starring John Cusack that's being hailed by both critics and audiences for its outlandish plot and irreverent humour! Unlike his High School friends who become respected professionals, Martin Blank (Cusack) found a lucrative career as a hit man. But the job has lost its appeal and Martin faces an uncertain future. Now, he finds himself back in his home town of Grosse Pointe to attend his ten-year High School reunion complete one last "job" and take another shot at rekindling a romance with the girl he stood up on prom night (Minnie Driver). With Dan Aykroyd as a hilarious rival assassin who wants Martin to join a "union", Grosse Pointe Blank is a killer comedy loaded with action and laughs.

I love, love, love this film - John Cusack is perfect as Martin Blank, the hitman back in his hometown for a hit, and dropping by his high school's 10 year reunion at the same time. Minnie Driver is brilliant as the girlfriend he stood up on prom night, Jeremy Piven is - as always - perfect in his role as Cusack's old buddy, Dan Ackroyd is hilarious as the unhinged hitman on Cusack's trail, determined to either kill him or make him join his 'union', and Joan Cusack is brilliant as Blank's secretary, walking the line between caring about her slightly sinister boss, and being scared witless by him and what he does. The 80s soundtrack is perfect - brings back the school memories for me too! A truly wonderful film. Buy it now - you really won't be disappointed.
